    The Suntory Yamazaki Distillery is located a 10-minute walk from JR Yamazaki Station. Japan's first malt whisky distillery, it was built in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii and went into operation that same year. Visitors who make reservations can take a tour of the Yamazaki Whisky Museum, where they learn about the history of Suntory Whisky and learn about the care that Suntory takes in the distillation process by viewing a miniature scale model and other exhibits. At the paid tasting counter, visitors can sample any of several dozen varieties of whisky and even taste pure unmodified whisky from the keg, an experience available only at a distillery.

    This is the factory of Asahi Breweries, Ltd. which manufactures such as “Asahi Super Dry”. They run factory tours with tickets having to be reserved in advance, and the tour goes through a video, panel exhibition and the production line, and you can learn free of charge about the history and manufacturing processes of Asahi Beer’s. After finishing the tour, you can also sample freshly brewed beers. The exhibition containing roughly 3,700 types of beer can collected from around the world is also a must see. The nearest station is Suita Station.

    This incineration plant is located close to the Konohanaohashi-Nishizume bus stop and was designed by Vienna-born artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. The stunning building is covered with red and yellow lines. Ordinarily, both individuals and groups must make an advance reservation to tour the facility, but occasionally the plant holds special open house days during which time visitors are free to view it. To date, more than 250 thousand people have visited this popular destination. During tours, visitors are shown the plant and also provided with information about the facility by the plant mascot.

    The main Osaka office of the newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun is located about a 15-minute walk east of JR Osaka Station. Since the first issue of the Osaka Yomiuri Shimbun was published in 1952, it has been the company's base for expansion in the Kansai region. The building currently contains editorial and production facilities, as well as a printing plant. Tours are available to elementary schoolchildren in fourth grade or higher, and they even get to see the printing plant. In addition, they see samples of old-style lead type and cameras and original manuscripts of articles submitted by Ryotaro Shiba and other authors.
