- This covered shopping street is centered on the road approaching Osaka Tenmangu Shrine. Running north to south for 2.6 kilometers from Tenjinbashi 1-chome to Tenjinbashi 6-chome, it is famous as Japan's longest shopping street. There are approx. 600 stores along the street. During the Edo period (1603-1868), the Tenman vegetable market was located nearby, and the street developed around the market as the main approach to the shrine. Many events are held centered on the shrine to this day. The stores sell everything from clothing to food, and include cafes, restaurants and izakaya bars.

- "Shinsaibashi-suji is a shopping street located in Chuo Ward, Osaka City. The street has a long history; in the Edo period (1603-1868), it flourished as a route leading to the Dotonbori theater district, and there was a popular saying: ""Ginza in the East, Shinsaibashi in the West."" Today, Shinsaibashi-suji is lined by around 180 businesses, including fashion boutiques, lifestyle stores, specialty stores and gourmet restaurants. The area to the north of Nagabori street has always had many textile wholesalers located there, and is known as the ""Senba Shinsaibashi-suji shopping street""; for a fashion-related business in Osaka, opening a store there is a mark of success and status."

- "A place where you can go shopping and get your fortune told, in Japanese it is nicknamed the ""Urete mo Uranai Shotengai,"" a pun based on the similar pronunciations of the worlds ""to sell"" and ""fortune telling"" which roughly means ""The Shopping Street Where Even If Sales Are Good You'll Get Your Fortune Told/Things Won't Sell."" The Shoten Ryotokuin Temple, from which the shopping street takes its name, is connected to Mizuno Nanboku (1760-1837), a master phrenologist well-known to those interested in the subject. The shopping street developed and grew as the approach to the temple from ancient times; today, it is a novel new destination where designer buildings, ethnic food restaurants, a Latin club, and other stylish food and drink establishments are opening up one after another."
