- Kyoto Prefecture Kyoto-shi, Kamigyo-ku Imadegawa-ku Nishi Immigration Nishi-in Kamiyagawa-machi 822
- A tofu restaurant located in the Kamiyagawa-cho neighborhood of Kamigyo Ward which only operates in the daytime. The restaurant is operated by a tofu shop which was founded in 1897. In addition to set specials and rice bowls made with fresh tofu, yuba (tofu skin), and namafu (wheat starch), the restaurant also serves a la carte options like boiled tofu and cubed tofu as well as desserts made with soy milk. The restaurant also offers a selection of beers and sakes, giving diners the chance to enjoy a drink with some boiled tofu in the middle of the day.

We had to wait in line for 40 minutes to get in, but the yudofu was delicious. It had such a beautiful soft texture and fresh flavor. The smallest tables were four-tops, so my travel companion and I...

- Kyoto Kyoto Kyoto-shi Kamigyo-ku Shakenagayacho 678
- Located in Kamishichiken, Kyoto's oldest geisha quarter, this teahouse has been operating as a caterer for over 70 years. Delivering mainly within the Kyoto city limits they deliver seasonal Kyoto cuisine and sushi. One of their popular bento lunch boxes is their Double Layer Box which offers nearly 20 different side dishes on the top level and a bottom level of rolled and nigiri sushi resulting in a compact yet still filling meal. You can also enjoy your meal in their building which was remodeled from a classic townhouse. Their specialty dish is a bento box with rice topped with their homemade chirimen-sansho (dried whitebait and Japanese pepper boiled in soy sauce and mirin seasoning). They also sell souvenirs.

This is a top traditional Japanese restaurant with all private seating. The food is top notch with a beautiful, colorful présentation. Very pleasant and professional service.

To preface this, my partner and I are huge foodies who have traveled the world and eaten every kind of cuisine imaginable. Perhaps this dinner was way too far outside our realm of understanding...

Kyoto Areas
Its wooden tea houses, shuffling geisha, and spiritual sights have seen Kyoto hailed as the heart of traditional Japan, a world apart from ultramodern Tokyo. Despite being the Japanese capital for over a century, Kyoto escaped destruction during World War II, leaving behind a fascinating history which can be felt at every turn, from the fully gold-plated Kinkakuji Temple down to traditional customs such as geisha performances and tea ceremonies, which are still practiced to this day.
