Kyoto Kyoutoshi Higashiyama-ku Maruyamachou

Established in 1886, Maruyama Park is the oldest park in Kyoto City and is a nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty. A strolling garden built around a central pond created by the famed Ogawa Jihei VII, the graceful design makes use of natural hills. The garden vicinity is dotted with buildings such as a traditional Japanese ryotei restaurant, tea house, and the Maruyama Park Concert Hall as well as numerous other points of note, including Basho’s Hermitage and bronze statues of Sakamoto Ryoma and Nakaoka Shintaro. Also famous for its “Gion weeping cherry trees,” the beauty of the park’s cherries illuminated at night have become a must-see symbol of Kyoto. Gion-Shijo Station is the closest station to the park.

It’s a pretty nice park and has a few shrines in or around it. Definitely a little creepy at night though, wife and I took a stroll and decided to leave. Lol

One of Kyoto’s leading tourist attractions, this 381.5-meter-high mountain and its environs have been designated as a National Historic Place of Beauty. On the mountain are the Iwatayama Monkey Park and Horinji Temple. Widely known as a spot for seeing cherry blossoms and changing autumn leaves, the scenery combining the Katsuragawa River to Togetsukyo Bridge is often used as a motif on picture postcards and pamphlets. Popular activities include walking the “bamboo forest road” from Tenryuji Temple or going around temples or shrines, a railcar ride to Kameoka, of the “Hozugawa-kudari” (Hozugawa river boat ride) pleasure cruise ride down the river to Arashiyama.

This private garden is located in Kita Ward, Kyoto City. A famous cherry blossom viewing spot, it is open to the public for a fee when they are in bloom from about March to April. There are also gallery seats inside, and you can enjoy a varied menu with items such as their Beni-shidare bento or Hanami bento lunch boxes that must be pre-ordered. In recent years, the garden is also open to the public in the autumn for the changing of the leaves.

My wife and I visited March 31, 2023, just as this private garden cherry blossoms were reaching full bloom as well as other flowering plants. Wow! A few hours here was at the top of our visit to...

A special place where you can enjoy the flowing Shirakawa River, lights from restaurants, Tatsumi Daimyojin Shrine, Tatsumi Bridge and the atmosphere of Kyoto all at once, it is especially beautiful during the cherry blossom season. Although there are only about 40 cherry blossom trees, watching them lit up at night is a must-see. The area is designated as a traditional building preservation district.

"A Buddhist temple located a three-minute walk from the ""Chushojima"" municipal bus station. Known as the ""Shima no Benten-san,"" the temple was established in 1699 by Takebe Masanoki. The main temple building enshrines a statue of Benzaiten, the temple is believed to grant worshippers aid in improving various performing arts abilities. The temple grounds are a renowned destination for cherry blossom viewing and in late March a variety of weeping cherries called the ""ito-zakura"" comes into bloom, making these the earliest flowering weeping cherries in Kyoto. The temple is also famous for its coin sized, shellfish-shaped amulets which are said to bring good luck."

Everyone, you should never go to worship at this temple in Kyoto. The old mans priest here shouts out loud discriminatory and insulting terms when he doesnt like the people who visit the temple...

Kyoto Kyoutoshi Sakyou-ku Nanzenjifukuchichou other

An inclined railroad 582 meters long that served as part of the Lake Biwa Canal in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City. It is the longest such incline in the world. The railroad was used from 1891 to 1948 to move boats over a steep incline on the Lake Biwa Canal that rose 36 meters in total. Today, visitors can walk along the tracks and, in spring, enjoy the Somei-yoshino and mountain cherry blossoms planted alongside.

Kyoto Yawatashi Yawata Zaiouji

This area is a vast flower viewing spot with cherry blossom trees stretching for 1.4 kilometers. There are approximately 250 of the most famous cherry trees, the Yoshino cherry, and the location is said to form a tunnel of cherry blossoms when in full bloom. Many people come to the Yawata Cherry Blossom Festival held during the flower viewing season. Barbecuing is allowed, but only in the designated area.

This stone-paved bridge spanning the Shirakawa River is about a seven-minute walk from Keihan Railway's Gion-Shijo Station in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City. The views are why the bridge is often used for productions such as dramas and movies.

Suirokaku is bridge over a canal in Kyoto's Sakyo Ward. It is made of brick and built with arches, a design that calls to mind the art objects of ancient Rome. Located on a branch of a canal coming out of Lake Biwa, it was completed in 1888. It was built with special consideration for blending into the surrounding scenery, even as the canal flows through the grounds of Nanzenji Temple. The bridge has been used as a location for television dramas.

This multipurpose Amagase Dam was the first constructed on the Yodogawa River. It's an arched dam that's 73 meters high, 254 meters wide, and retains about 20 million tons of water. From the top of the dam you can look out across Hoo Lake and take in the seasonal scenery reflected in the water.

This dam is located in the Minamiyamashiro Village, Soraku County, Kyoto Prefecture. It is known as an arch gravity dam built in 1969. On the southern side, the surface of Tsukigase Lake stretches on. In addition, there is an observation deck next to the dam where you can enjoy the natural scenery throughout the four seasons of the lake, such as cherry blossoms, azaleas and autumn leaves.
