    This is a Japanese restaurant standing at the gate of Kozanji Temple. The spaciousness of the Japanese style seating on the floor is noteworthy. The back of the store faces the Kiyotaki River and guests can enjoy dining while looking out onto the beautiful scenery of the clear stream. Local specialties such as herring buckwheat noodles and Kitayama Tofu set meals are served. Depending on the season, there is also a limited menu using matsutake aromatic mushrooms, and guests can taste the dishes accompanied by the scenery of each season.

    高山寺、神護寺など三寺を見物帰りにここで昼食。 清滝川べりに横長の座敷が３つ並んでいて、京都名物の川床となっている。 訪ねたのは11月27日。 紅葉も見ごろの最後の頃で、川床からの眺めは良かった。 頼んだのは鶏肉の陶板焼き定食、1800円。 味はごく平凡。 平日だったが、客はそれなりにいて、サービスに手間取った。

    A compact Kyoto obanzai home cooking restaurant with six counter seats and one table located on the first floor of the New Kyoto Building in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City. The counter is covered with obanzai dishes served in large bowls such as nimono stews and aemono dressed vegetables, and here patrons can enjoy beer, local sakes, and a variety of alcoholic drinks. Patrons seated at the counter can also enjoy conversation with the aproned proprietress. This popular restaurant is frequently featured in the media and as such it is recommended that you make an advance reservation if you want to be sure to get a seat.

    カウンターとテーブル席１つのかわいらしいお店です。混雑している事が多いので、できれば予約をお勧めします。カウンターにおばんざいがずらーっと並んでおり、どれを食べても美味しいです。常連の方も多いのですが、皆さん親しみやすく、女性1人で行っても美味しく楽しい時間を過ごせます。〆はその日によって異なりますが、鯖寿司、カレーも絶品です。場所がわかりづらいので注意です。

    Tanaka Keiran, located in the shopping arcade of the Nishiki Market, specializes in egg dishes, including Kyo dashimaki (rolled omelets made with specially prepared broth) and baby omelets. This shop is retail only, with no seating or table service, but one of its most popular to-go items for customers who want to eat while walking around is dashimaki on a stick. There is often a line of eager customers outside the store.
