    Kyoto Kyoutoshi Fushimi-ku Kamiaburakakechou 186
This izakaya is five minutes on foot from the Keihan Main Line's Fushimi Momoyama Station in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto City. They feature a variety of chicken-based cuisine including skewers made with domestic poultry. Housed in a refurbished Shinsei sake warehouse, they have tanks of Kuradashi unprocessed sake delivered directly to the brewery that guests enjoy poured fresh. They have private rooms and can accommodate group banquets, too.

Excellent ‘locals’ restaurant within the Gion area. A very small space which gets busy so either come early or be prepared to wait. Cheap and delicious.

At Kizakura Sakaba guests can enjoy Kizakura sake and local craft beer in a charming brewery atmosphere with the diversity of drink options that you'd expect of a brewery-run shop. The building maintains the dynamic framing of the former main shop's warehouse as it's always been, and a beer keg awaits you at the storefront on the stone-paved approach to the entrance.

No photos allowed in the viewing room. We had a proper viewing in gekkeikan okura, so here we had a reasonable lunch. Buses of visitors coming here for lunches too. Seems to me theyre doing better...

Kyoto Prefecture Kyoto City Nakagyo-ku Sanjyodo Kawaramachi Higashi Nakajima cho 82 Owa Sanjo Building
Built on the site of the former Ikeda-ya Inn, where competing forces fought at the end of the Edo period, Ikeda-ya Hananomai provides customers with locally-sourced fresh vegetables from farms under contract and sashimi made from seafood acquired from all over Japan that is acclaimed for its freshness. It has a wide variety of multi-course prix fixe options as well as collaborative menus.

I was not keen on any of the offerings on Sanjou street so I decided on a whim to eat inside the infamous Ikedaya Inn. It screamed of a tourist trap, but did not expect a decent izakaya to have set...

"A cafe and bar located on the first floor of the same building as WORLD KYOTO, a long standing Kyoto nightclub. Decorated in bright, primary colors, here customers can enjoy fresh cocktails and fruit juices. One item on the menu that people are particularly paying attention to is the ""eco-presso,"" espresso served in a cookie-based cup that you can eat. The inside of the cup is coated with icing that keeps the espresso from leaking out and also goes great with the bitter flavor of the beverage. A bar where you can take fun pictures, drink, and eat, the establishment is popular with men and women of all ages."

Kyoto Kyoto-shi Kamigyo-ku Senbon-dori Nakadachiuri Agaru West side Tamayacho 38
An izakaya pub at the Senbon Nakadachiuri intersection that's been serving food in line with the ideal of Delicious and Fresh that Matches the Season and the Day ever since their founding in 1934. As they head to the market to buy fresh ingredients on a daily basis their recommended specialties also change daily. The interior with its U-shaped counter and single plank table has a retro feel almost like you've stepped back into the Showa period. While calling themselves an izakaya pub their dishes are at the level of a traditional Japanese restaurant and sure to leave you completely satisfied. Their specialty menu item is Shinme, a unique warm-sake blend of six different types of Japanese sake.

An izakaya pub part of the Isoya Group that works with their personal Isozumi Farm and other contracted farms to deliver fresh Kyoto produce. Working with the concept of The Taste and Enjoyment of Kyoto Produce and Wine here you can taste the marriage of wine and Kyoto produce. The shop interior has a chic feel based around a black theme. The moment you open the door their impressive wine cellar jumps out at you. The dishes designed to pair with the wines, from fresh vegetables for simple wines to pickled goods for more vinegar wines, are also a feast for your eyes. Well known as a shop where you can relax and enjoy the casual atmosphere.

Kyoto Kyoto-shi Nakagyo-ku Pontomachi Shijo Agaru 200m Kamogawa Side 1F
This jazz bar stands along the atmospheric cobbled streets of Pontocho Alley. The bar has always had a unique atmosphere since opening in this historic neighborhood some half century ago. The bar's mainstay is its vast selection of whiskeys, which includes bourbons, single malts, Irish whiskies, blended Scotches, and more. Guests can enjoy all the usual brands as well as number of rare and valuable ones. The bar holds concerts by professional musicians on weekends and holidays, allowing guests to enjoy live music up close.

Cosy and wonderfully designed, taking you back to the old days of bars and lounges. Crackly vinyl sounds of jazz and even some early Doris Day swoons. Great choice in whiskey selections.

Guests can enjoy a broad selection of food that ranges from standby dishes to creative cuisine in the bar's bright and clean interior. Located inside a charming renovated townhouse that faces Takoyakushi Street, it has surprisingly stylish interior finishings for a standing bar. It also accepts reservations, offers party courses, and can also be rented out, making it great for parties and other events."

This is a traditional old style bar located in Ponto-cho serving over 70 different single malts, and offering a menu of more than 500 varieties including brandy, wine and cocktails. The main seats are at the classic-style counter. The back of the shop faces a river, and during May to September, a Japanese style terrace seating is set up to enjoy the river views. The open space where you can enjoy unique cocktails is popular.

Rude and unpolite owner and staff, they refused a seat for a drink because there was a child without any reasons. Very bad place.

This is a Japanese tavern hidden away on the back streets of Kiyamachi, a two minute walk from Kawaramachi Station on Hankyu Kyoto Line. It is open from 13:00 and visitors can enjoy a set menu for lunch. The cuisine is reasonably priced such as 130 yen for a fried pork skewer, and dishes of traditional Kyoto home style cooking and a la carte dishes beginning from 300 yen. The carefully prepared cuisine is served simply and guests can enjoy a special time here. The restaurant has a wonderful ‘at home' feel, so guests feel happy to come alone. You can also book the entire restaurant for a banquet, and enjoy the relaxed space fully.

This bar located in the Shimogyo Ward of Kyoto City in Kyoto Prefecture stands out for its fashionable interior that calls to mind an early American brick warehouse. The interior is illuminated only by candlelight and moonlight instead of electric lights, and has the mellow, relaxed atmosphere of a hideaway place for adults. Along with the view of the Kamogawa River that can be seen from the window, guests can enjoy more than 300 types of alcoholic beverages. From May through September they carry on the summer tradition of kawadoko (a raised platform on the bank of a river for enjoying the cool in summer) and guests can experience the coolness of the Kamogawa River under the night sky.

Kyoto Areas

around-area-map

Its wooden tea houses, shuffling geisha, and spiritual sights have seen Kyoto hailed as the heart of traditional Japan, a world apart from ultramodern Tokyo. Despite being the Japanese capital for over a century, Kyoto escaped destruction during World War II, leaving behind a fascinating history which can be felt at every turn, from the fully gold-plated Kinkakuji Temple down to traditional customs such as geisha performances and tea ceremonies, which are still practiced to this day.
