The shop is built with a charming wooden construction from the early Meiji period, and as it is in a place removed from the hustle and bustle one can enjoy a relaxing moment here. Known for using matcha from Kyoto's long-established shop Morihan, on off-days it is so popular that there will be lines several hours long. The most popular item is the matcha tiramisu, in which mascarpone cheese and sponge cake are placed into a masu (traditional square measuring cup) and given a sprinkling of matcha on top. The thick texture with the fragrance of the matcha makes for an exquisite combination and is one of their specialty sweets. The closest station is Kawaramachi Station.

    This Japanese sweets shop located in the Kita Ward of Kyoto City in Kyoto Prefecture is famous nationwide, which is why its Nama Dorayaki, which has been shown on TV and other media, sells out soon after the shop opens. Nama Dorayaki is a new type of dora-yaki sweet with several centimeters of fresh cream in addition to red bean paste sandwiched in between two sponge cakes. There are three flavors of ogura (sweet adzuki bean), matcha, and kuro-goma (black sesame) available, and the combination of red bean and cream that is not overly sweet is outstanding. In addition, they also sell popular Japanese sweets such as Oboro, which is koshi-an (fine-grained sweet bean paste) covered in warabi-mochi (bracken-starch dumpling), and Kuri-Mochi Mikasa.

    This is a historic Japanese confectionery store established in 1883 located right where you disembark at the Katsurarikyu-mae bus stop. This confectionery carries on the meticulous historic method of sweets making, sparing no expenses and using only discriminatingly selected domestic ingredients only, including making the bean paste in an earthen hearth. The specialty, Mugitemochi, was historically eaten by the local farmers as a snack through which the name is derived harkening back to times when wheat was a trade commodity. In the store space is shared as tea cafe also. In the summer, somen noodles and shaved ice is on the menu, while in the fall and winter they serve sweet zenzai and oshiruko bean soup.
