    The Biwako Terrace is an observation terrace located within the Biwako Valley nature resort, around five minutes' drive from the Shiga Interchange of the Nishi Otsu Bypass (Kosei Road), from which visitors can enjoy superb views of Lake Biwa. The terrace is situated around 10 minutes' walk from the ropeway summit station, on the summit of the 1,174 meter-high Mt. Horai. The terrace features an open, spacious design that makes use of large arches; visitors can enjoy a spectacular panorama, with views of Lake Biwa, the Ibuki Mountains, and even as far as Hira Mountains. Beverages and snacks are available from Cafe 360. Premium seats are available (for an additional charge). The terrace is open between April and October each year.

    快晴の日でしたがロープウェイで標高1100mの山頂につくとモヤがかかっていて、ぼんやりとした景色しか見えませんでした。それでも琵琶湖を一望できる景色は素晴らしかったです。水盤が琵琶湖と一体化するようにデザインされていて美しいです。 レストランとカフェがありましたが土産物店はありませんでした。お土産はロープウェイの下の駅で少しだけ売っていました。

    El lugar bellísimo , con pleno contacto con la naturaleza , pero el menú de dulces , no es muy variado , aunque vale la pena tomarse un café en sus instalaciones .

    ランチで利用。 信楽駅から徒歩でいけますが 少しわかりにくいかな。 森の中の倉庫？的な感じでなかなか 映えるかも。 ランチのナスの1本揚げは ほんまに丸々1本フライにしてあり 中にチーズやベーコンが挟んでて なかなかジューシー。 人気があるのはわかる気がするなぁと思える 女子が好きそうな感じのお店でした。

    A café situated along National Route 307 in Minakuchi Minakuchi-cho, Koka City. The café serves coffee made with charcoal roasting Hagiwara Coffee beans from Kobe, cakes and cookies made by hand daily, and a one plate lunch special only served on weekdays and limited to 10 customers per day. On Saturdays and Sundays, the café also serves lunch dishes like doria pilafs and omelet rice. The interior, decorated entirely with English antique furniture, is part of the café’s charm.

    出張の際に手土産を探しておりましたが近くにあまり店がなく、たまたまランチで入ったお店に手作りクッキーやケーキがあり試食させていただき、クッキーや色々詰め合わせを選んだのですが、取引先に持っていったらとても喜ばれました。地元では有名なのでしょうか？

The café operates out of a remodeled old Japanese home and sells Japanese style sweets in addition to desserts like anmitsu sweet beans and fruit in syrup and summer-only shaved ice, as well as Western-style sweets like cakes (only at the Nagahama Kurobe location). For lunch, the restaurant also serves tobanyaki gozen meals made with Omi beef from a farm owned and operated by the Okaki Honten Main Restaurant Omi beef Restaurant and Shop.

    A 10-minute walk from Ohmi Railway Minakuchi Station. This restaurant and cafe, located in the former post station town of Minakuchi-juku which once flourished along the ancient Tokaido Highway, still exudes an atmosphere reminiscent of an Edo period hatago tavern. Decorated in Japanese modern style while retaining the elegant charms of the old townhouse out of which the restaurant operates, here customers can enjoy cuisine crafted by the experienced owner, who operated a Japanese-style delicatessen for years. The exquisite and flavorful thick-cut Matsuzaka pork deep-fried cutlet lunch is particularly recommended. The Mizukuchi pudding, a local favorite, is a popular dessert choice.

    A five-minute walk from JR Omi-Takashima Station. This cafe is located in Takashima Village Building No. 8, which is just north of the Omizokoguchi Intersection along Prefectural Route 300. The establishment also operates as a bar after 8 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The second floor is a reservation-only salon. The cafe serves a daily special chiffon cake made with seasonal fruit, enabling customers to enjoy the various, changing flavors of the seasons. The cafe also offers a spicy curry and other lunch choices, and takeout is available. Also recommended is the cheesecake plate, which comes with cheesecake made using sake lees from a local sake brewery.

The cafe sells tea ordered direct from a tea farm grown in Yame City, the city adjacent to the owner's hometown of Kurume City in Fukuoka Prefecture. The cafe is also filled with select tea utensils, tableware, and other items. The cafe serves desserts made with tea, including shaved ice in the summer; and cream anmitsu (sweet beans and fruit in syrup), and zenzai sweet bean soup in the winter.

    A one-minute drive from the Hira Ramp, and a 20-minute walk from JR Hira Station. This cafe can be reached by going down Prefectural Route 322 from Biwako Seikei Sport College, turning at the second intersection, and going a little further down the connecting curvy road. The cafe serves choice dishes made with organic vegetables and domestic meats; the most popular item on the menu is the apple and cinnamon chiffon cake. The cafe also serves curry and pasta lunch combo meals, and sells accessories and other items made with Lake Biwa pearls. Groups of two or more who make an advance reservation can make use of a free shuttlebus service from the station and back.

    比良トピアへの道沿いにある、木々にかこまれたカフェレストラン、室内は外観より広く落ち着いた感じで、ゆっくりできます。ランチのパスタを頂きましたが、サラダも新鮮で、美味しかったです、一緒にでたジャスミンティーを頂き、ゆっくりした時間を過ごさせて頂きました。ケーキやカレーあるみたいです。

    This cafe is located a 10-minute walk from JR Hikone Station and can be reached by following Ekimae O-dori Street and turning right at the road in front of Gokoku Shrine. Inside, the lively cafe is decorated with souvenirs from around the world received from customers and it seems to be frozen in the 1970s, the owner's favorite time period. In addition to Italian coffee, customers can enjoy cinnamon coffee and other novel coffees as well as coffees mixed with Western alcoholic beverages. There's also a cake set which comes with a slice of cake and the cafe's regular coffee blend.

Visitors to Shiga prefecture are almost always hopping east across the prefectural border from Kyoto, and they are almost certainly Lake Biwa-bound.
