The Biwako Terrace is an observation terrace located within the Biwako Valley nature resort, around five minutes' drive from the Shiga Interchange of the Nishi Otsu Bypass (Kosei Road), from which visitors can enjoy superb views of Lake Biwa. The terrace is situated around 10 minutes' walk from the ropeway summit station, on the summit of the 1,174 meter-high Mt. Horai. The terrace features an open, spacious design that makes use of large arches; visitors can enjoy a spectacular panorama, with views of Lake Biwa, the Ibuki Mountains, and even as far as Hira Mountains. Beverages and snacks are available from Cafe 360. Premium seats are available (for an additional charge). The terrace is open between April and October each year.

"A two-minute walk from JR Omihachiman Station. This restaurant is owned and operated by longstanding Omi beef company Kanekichi Yamamoto Foods. Here customers can enjoy veritable ""works of art interweaving material and craft"" prepared by skilled chefs expertly versed in the exquisite Omi beef personally chosen by the proprietor. Particularly recommended is the Tiffany Omi beef course meal, which comes with an appetizer, chilled tenderloin and fatty beef toro sushi, and recommended Tiffany cause, assorted Obi beef dishes including an Omi beef loin steak. The lunchtime rice bowl topped with special roast top round Japanese beef, limited to 10 customers a day, is also popular. There's also the reasonably-priced Service Lunch meal."

This is a restaurant in Nagahama City where you can taste the home-cooked specialty of “Yakisaba Somen” (fine white noodles with grilled mackerel) which is characteristic of Kohoku. This specialty of boiled fine white noodles and meaty grilled mackerel arouses an appetite for a somewhat strong seasoning. The set menu is also substantial; there are also “O-zen” (a four-legged tray for festive food) which can be enjoyed together with grilled mackerel sushi and “Toban-yaki” (a roast on a ceramic plate) of Omi beef. The store now makes use of a merchant’s house constructed approximately 200 years ago, having in some respects an aura which feels nostalgic. It is also known as a famous shop where queues can be seen.

We decided to drive 30min from Hikone just to find out how good is the signature Mackerel and it was indeed very special. The Mackerel could be ordered as a whole or I think most visitors went for...

Hieizan Shamotei is a famous restaurant specializing in Shamo chicken that has often been featured in media such as gourmet magazines. The owners are extremely fussy about the quality of the meat, all of which comes from chickens that they have raised themselves by hand. The resulting meat has a rich savory flavor, a delicious taste that one can enjoy nowhere else. One reason for the restaurant's popularity is that diner's can choose how to have their chicken prepared, whether in a stew or even raw. Popular options include grilled chicken and Shamo chicken sukiyaki, which are loved by a wide range of generations, from children to adults.

The signature dish is Clam Kamameshi (similar to risotto), and when diners lift the lid of the pot, the aroma is irresistible. A large helping of Omi no Obanzai (assorted seafood and vegetables) accompanied by a moderate helping of grebe is especially popular.
