Located about 500 meters from Kintetsu Yunoyama-Onsen Station, this restaurant serves freshwater fish and wild game. It's a cottage available by reservation where guests enjoy meals around the irori, the hearth found in traditional Japanese homes. They offer meat from wild boar and deer taken from the foot of the mountains around Suzuka. Their superb wild boar hot pot is packed with tasty wild boar that gets softer and sweeter the longer it's cooked. Their freshwater fish include amago trout and ayu sweetfish. Try them salted and roasted whole over their brazier right before your eyes or cooked whole kamameshi style with rice.

This Chinese Restaurant is in an arcade in front of the Kintetsu Yunoyama Line's Kintetsu Yokkaichi Station. It's a four-minute walk away. One of their best dishes is the local Yokkaichi favorite known as tonteki or pork steak. A super filling 250-gram shoulder loin is baked in their aromatic, shoyu-based house sauce that's sweet and salty with plenty of garlic. Their hearty Butachahan Set meal featuring pork fried rice and a small bowl of ramen noodles with soy sauce broth comes recommended, as does their Curry Tenshin-han, a novel combination of fluffy egg over rice topped with curry sauce.

This restaurant is 30 minutes by car from Suzuka Interchange on the Higashi-Meihan Expressway, or 25 minutes on foot from Kintetsu Ise-Wakamatsu Station. They're on the coastal Shiohama-Kaido Road, and they'll pick you up and drop you off even if you're alone. They specialize in cuisine featuring katsu-anago, or fresh conger eel, a local favorite. Their menu has all sorts of dishes made with conger eel, including raw sashimi, and they serve both a la carte and course meals. Their Anago Ten-Don rice bowl with two-pieces of conger tempura so big that they stick out of the bowl is popular. Their full course lets you enjoy conger eel in multiple ways, including as tempura and sushi, thin-sliced with a mild flavor like puffer fish, and sliced thick and broiled kabayaki style.

This sushi shop close to JR and Kintetsu Kuwana Station features clams on its menu. Founded over 130 years ago, its steamed sushi and nigiri sushi made with local Kuwana clams raised in a perfect environment with a blend of sea and fresh water are local favorites. This especially goes for their original steamed sushi, with clams marinated in their secret house sauce and broiled, laid on sushi rice, and set on thin sliced omelet before being steamed together. The clams' savoriness transfers to the rice and really whets the appetite. They've appeared widely in the media, and reservations are recommended.

This shop near Kintetsu Yokkaichi Station has great tonteki (pork steak), a local Yokkaichi favorite. It's their most popular dish, with a thick cut of soft, odorless, corn-fed pork loin roasted with garlic and lard, then smothered with their house sauce and served with a heaping side of cabbage. You can request extra sauce and garlic when ordering. Their ramen noodles are of medium thickness, chewy and glossy, and go great with their broth made from long-simmered pork and lots of back fat. Their juicy gyoza dumplings are available for takeout.

Shiratama-ya is a simple, old-style Japanese confectionary. Its most famous product is Shiratama, the source of the shop's name, an uncooked confection made from pureed bean paste wrapped in finely milled rice flour. A charming feature of this sweet is the three-colored center, red, yellow, and green, meant to represent the four seasons. The shop's Manju, associated with the Edo period figure, Seki no Koman, who avenged her father's death when she was only 18, are another popular product. Pieces of peach, chestnut, and plum fruit are wrapped inside a yellow paste dough made with egg yolk. The shop also carries Daifuku (glutinous rice stuffed with a filling) and unbaked sweets that are inspired by seasonal flowers. These sweets are sold by the piece, and customers can enjoy their favorites with a cup of green tea inside the store.

Jizo-in Temple is known as Sekijuku, the 47th of the famous 53 stations on the old Tokaido Road. Aizuya stands near the gate of the station and serves dishes such as Sansai Okowa (very flavorful, traditional Japanese rice dish using sweet rice, along with domestic chicken, shiitake mushrooms and other wild vegetables) and Kaido Soba (soba noodles in the delicious soup stock extracted from high quality Hidaka-Kombu and shredded bonito with four kinds of soy sauce). The restaurant's Sansai Okowa made with both sticky rice and ordinary table rice, has an especially pleasing texture, and its other ingredients include chicken raised in Mie Prefecture and shiitake mushrooms from the Karatogawa River in Shiga Prefecture, dried on natural wood. Aizuya also boasts an extensive menu of sweets, such as Anmitsu (a pudding-like dish based on agar jelly) and rolled cakes. In the area are more than 200 machiya houses built from the Edo period (1603-1868) to the Meiji period (1868-1912), so Aizuya is a perfect place to stop off while walking around and seeing the sights.

This restaurant is located a five-minute drive from the East Exit of JR Kuwana Station. Renovated from the Ryotei Ryokan Funatsuya that opened in 1875 in Kuwana-juku, one of the post towns in the 53 Stations of the Tokaido, they offer authentic Italian and kaiseki tea ceremony cuisine with an inherited ryotei (high-class Japanese style restaurant) taste.
