This well-established restaurant for Matsusaka beef cuisine was founded in 1902 and is located in Uo Town, Matsusaka City, Mie Prefecture, which still bears the traces of a castle town. Their standard menu item is the Sukiyaki which uses beef from Matsusaka cattle which are famous as high-quality Japanese cattle, and the simple seasoning made with just soy sauce and sugar enhances the original umami flavor of the beef. Their Amiyaki in which one can taste thick slices of charbroiled is also popular. In the pure Japanese-style tatami room guests can enjoy a calm and relaxed atmosphere.

I had just finished a sukiyaki set lunch for 3,000 JPY (price is unbelievably good value for A5!) earlier at another wagyu restaurant in Matsusaka, less than 7 mins walk away. But, with some time...

Mie Areas

around-area-map

Spread across the eastern side of the Kii Peninsula, Mie prefecture boasts hundreds of kilometers of pretty coastline comprising the oyster-rich Toba city and Shima National Park all the way down to Kumano, a city that marks the beginning of part of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage, which runs into neighboring Wakayama prefecture. However, Mie is best known for the Ise Jingu Shinto shrine inland, one of the oldest and largest shrines in the country.
