This udon noodle shop is right near Ujiyamada Station. They serve authentic Ise udon in the warm atmosphere of an old-fashioned store. Located next to Isetoyouke Inari-jinja Shrine, the shop is well-known, having been popular with the locals for many years and visited by celebrities. Their hallmark dish is, of course, Ise udon, with fat, chewy noodles in a rich, sweet and savory sauce. Their meat topped Niku Ise Udon and Tsukimi Ise Udon with a raw egg on top come particularly recommended.

This shop specializing in the local favorite Ise udon noodles is on Okage Yokocho near Naiku, the Inner Ise Shrine. It's so popular there's often a line waiting for them to open. The soft, thick udon noodles are served in an Ise-made tamari soy sauce broth. The deep color of the soy sauce stands out, but the flavor is mellow and it's a delight to eat. They serve six dishes and everything on the menu is popular. Their Mehibi Udon with thick wakame seaweed also comes recommended.

This cafe and bar is near Iseshi Station. It's in a remodeled antique Japanese house with a warm wooden atmosphere and a laid back, modern vibe. A drink and salad come with all of their lunches, including their pasta of the day. For your drink, you can choose from coffee, black tea, and oolong tea. They serve about 100 kinds of alcoholic drinks, with lots of originals like their KIRENAI cocktail with local sake.

Nice place. Dont be put of by the entrance which seems a bit mysterious. Barman is super friendly. Really nice ink paintings on the sliding doors, nice cocktail, relaxed atmosphere.

This seafood restaurant is about 20 minutes on foot from Isuzugawa Station. For 27 years they were called Shiroi Hashi and focused on oyster cuisine in Toba City. They moved, changed their name, and re-opened in their current incarnation in 2011. Their fried oyster set meal with oysters procured from the farm by the proprietor himself comes particularly recommended. Their sweet and tasty Japanese tiger prawns and black tiger prawns are huge. You should definitely try them with their house tartar sauce made with Ise onions. Its popular with kids, too.

This restaurant about 10 minutes by car from Kintetsu Ujiyamada Station specializes in beef cuisine. The wooden interior is warm and spacious, and they serve reasonably priced Japanese black beef. They offer three versions of their shabu-shabu course meal with tender, thin-sliced beef: Yamabuki, Nadeshiko, and Kikyo. They all come with rice, pickled vegetables, and dessert. Their lunch menu is especially popular with dishes like their aburi-yaki beef rice bowl and a roast beef rice bowl. They sometimes sell out before lunch is over.

This veteran izakaya Japanese pub is located about five minutes on foot from Kintetsu Iseshi Station. It fills up from the moment it opens with regulars and visitors from afar. They serve local Mie junmai sake and seasonal fish in a room with partitionless tatami floor seating. You're more than welcome at the counter if you come alone. Their pickled iwashi sardines, are a local favorite and just one of their famous dishes. They're made with fresh iwashi marinated in sanonto caramelized sugar and rice vinegar. Their assorted platter with seasonal seafood flavors and a variety of textures comes recommended, as does their squid dish called ikanuta, prepared with their homemade vinegar miso.

Founded in 1991, Mother Fruit is located near the Ise City Hall and specializes in Ise-style confections. It sells only Jingu Shiraishi Cookies and Beni Kajitsu cookies. Jingu Shiraishi Cookies are meant to evoke the white stones (Shiraishi) that are spread on the ground in the most sacred part of Ise Jingu Shrine, and their rounded shape gives an impression of neatness. Customers like their crunchy texture, their faint sweetness, and the scent of chestnut. Together with the pink Beni Kajitsu cookies, they form a contrast between red and white and are therefore recommended as presents for celebrations.

This veteran Japanese-style confectionery at Futaminoura Station was founded in 1913. They take pride in providing genuine manju buns, so everything's handmade. Their delicious Sakamoto Manju feature 100% Hokkaido adzuki red bean jam in buns prepared with naturally fermented rice koji starter. These treats with chewy outsides and the clean sweetness of adzuki beans are only available at their shop, providing a traditional flavor that you can only find there. Once they're sold out, that's it. Of course, they're great as snacks, but they make fine souvenirs as well.

Since they deal only in Ise meat, painstakingly selected with expertise handed down from the Meiji Period and insist on using Ise and Iga cattle, customers can enjoy meat from domestically produced black-coated breeds at a reasonable price. Besides set meals such as Salisbury steak and grilled meat, there are many other dishes that are available only at the Outer Shrine restaurant. Two popular options include croquettes for take-out or Butasute's famous Gyudon (beef over rice).

This fresh juice store is located in Ido-no-seko, in Okage Yokocho. It uses only the finest fruits that have a perfect balance of sugar content and acidity, and every glass is squeezed upon receiving an order, so the juice is as fresh as can be. The juice is characterized by its natural sweetness and mild flavor with no additives used. The flavor of the juice is concentrated by the special seasonal ingredients used, and its freshness allows the body to absorb all of the nutrients contained within the fruit. The store recommends its concentrated mixed juice, which contains eight different fruits, including pineapple, orange and banana. There is a refreshing open cafeand also standing tables for customers who wish to drink at the store.
