An eight-minute drive from the Mibuno Interchange on the Meihan Expressway. This day trip hot spring bathhouse adjoins Iga no Sato Mokumoku Tezukuri Farm. Built on a nature rich mountain slope with the trees and other growth left in place as much as possible, the bathhouse has a beautifully rustic atmosphere and bathers can enjoy facilities such as a hideaway outdoor bath carved out of a huge natural boulder and surrounded by trees. In another of the bathhouse' outdoor baths, bathers can take in the surrounding wilderness as they are caressed by breezes blowing through the trees and soothed by the song of wild birds. The bathhouse makes use of a sodium chloride spring (isotonic/mildly alkaline/low temperature). A free footbath is located on the outside of the bathhouse.

This Kannon (Goddess of mercy) temple for driving out evil spirits is said to be the oldest in Japan. With an original legend that it was built in a place where dragons lives, there are many other dragon god legends. A popular one among them, there is a story that a male and female pair of dragons appeared from the pond and protected Kannon when the main temple caught fire 600 years ago. When the floorboards were being replaced about 10 years ago, the image of dragon emerged by chance in the grains of the boards, and this Nade Ryu (stroking dragon) became famous as a power spot since it was said you could receive benefits by stroking it.

Susa-no-o-no-Mikoto is its enshrined deity, and it is the only shrine in Owase that has such a long history. According to tradition, it was founded in the Taiho period (701-703), and it is said that many warriors came to pray for victory during the Warring States period. Every year, a festival called Yaya Matsuri, a festival principally for young men, is held on Old New Year, February 1 to 5, and it is considered one of Japan's many strange festivals. Two large camphor trees that stand within the precincts are considered husband and wife trees, and are said to be more than a thousand years old. They have been designated prefectural natural monuments.

The grounds contain a stone slab inscribed with the haiku Basho composed when he found the umbilical cord his family had kept in this house – “Old village! / Umbilical’s tail at cry / Year’s end.” A building called the Chogetsuken in the garden behind the house is where The Seashell Game poetry anthology was compiled by Basho. The home provides visitors with a glimpse of the life Basho lived in the place here returned to on many occasions after his travels.
