Mie Iga-shi Ueno Marunouchi Iga Kobe Sta.-Iga Ueno Sta. Hazama
"These decorated trains are known to locals by nicknames such as the ""Ninja"" and the ""Kunoichi"" (female ninja). Designed by manga artist Leiji Matsumoto of ""Galaxy Express 999"" and ""Space Battleship Yamato"" fame, the three differently colored ninja trains operate between Iga-Ueno Station on the JR Kansai Main Line, and Kintetsu Railway Iga-Kambe Station. There are a variety of cute, ninja-themed touches inside the trains such as shuriken-themed curtains and doors decorated with running ninja, as well as other ninja and shuriken-themed designs scattered about. Just when the trains run can be confirmed by checking the Iga Tetsudo's website or by visiting Uenoshi Station from 5:00 p.m. or later the day before you intend to ride."

Spread across the eastern side of the Kii Peninsula, Mie prefecture boasts hundreds of kilometers of pretty coastline comprising the oyster-rich Toba city and Shima National Park all the way down to Kumano, a city that marks the beginning of part of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage, which runs into neighboring Wakayama prefecture. However, Mie is best known for the Ise Jingu Shinto shrine inland, one of the oldest and largest shrines in the country.
