Umi Hozuki is a tourist facility operated by the town of Hamajima in Shima City, Mie Prefecture, where visitors can have a go at beach combing and experience the life, culture and fishing industry of this fishing community. You can catch sea creatures like fish and starfish with your bare hands in the man-made seashore called Wanpakuiso where visitors can observe the rise and fall of the tides. Visitors can also have a go at making local dishes using Japanese spiny lobster and skipjack tuna. Other popular things to do include learning experiences related to the sea and making dried fish. There is so much to do here making it a great place for children and adults to learn and have fun.

Approximately 30 minutes by car from the Yokkaichi interchange of the Higashi-meihan Expressway, this lush green-forested park lies at the foot of the Mt. Shakagadake of the Suzuka range, just west of Komono Town. In this expansive wooded forest one can take in all that the woods have to offer through nature exploration, bird watching, and other activities in all four seasons. The adventure woods are highly popular with kids where they can enjoy the speed rush from the exhilarating Tarzan rope and test their skills on the ninja crab-walk wall crossing, and other obstacle course challenges. There are many activities that can be enjoyed as a family such as plant and tree dyeing, and sawing logs together with a large two-person saw.

Mie Areas

around-area-map

Spread across the eastern side of the Kii Peninsula, Mie prefecture boasts hundreds of kilometers of pretty coastline comprising the oyster-rich Toba city and Shima National Park all the way down to Kumano, a city that marks the beginning of part of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage, which runs into neighboring Wakayama prefecture. However, Mie is best known for the Ise Jingu Shinto shrine inland, one of the oldest and largest shrines in the country.
