"About 80 minutes by car from the Toyokawa Interchange on the Tomei Expressway, this shaved ice shop is at Koijigahama Beach, Cape Irago. They serve ""the second most delicious shaved ice in Japan"" all year round. The airy treat features plenty of toppings like homemade jam, syrup, condensed milk, and yogurt. Available in July and August, they only make 10 servings a day."

This long established udon restaurant located near the tourist spot of Takeshima Island in Gamagori City, Aichi Prefecture, was founded in 1903. The udon noodles are made with locally sourced flour and kneaded by hand for two days to produce a characteristically chewy texture and great tasting flavor. But what makes the flavor really stand out is the fragrant broth lavishly made with only frigate mackerel bonito. In addition to their regular favorites such as ‘benten’ topped with two extra large tempura king prawns, and ‘ryujin udon’ topped with fried stuff in starchy egg sauce, their Takeshima udon with lots of clams and available only from March through to June, is also very popular.

This gourmet take-out restaurant located on the road to Toyokawa Inari Shrine was originally an udon shop. Now they’re famous for their Okitsune Burgers made from thick fried tofu buns stuffed with vegetables and pork cutlets. The fragrant fried tofu in this popular take-out item perfectly matches their secret sauce which perfectly matches the sourness of the ketchup. They also offer various Inari sushi (rice in fried tofu) and Inari-man (fried tofu in a steamed bun). There is an eat-in area available and the nearest train stations are Toyokawa Station and Toyokawa Inari Station.

Aichi Areas

Aichi is a prefecture of great natural beauty with Nagoya city at its heart, a busy hub home to a labyrinth of underground shops and the 17th-century Nagoya Castle. Castles are easy to find in this history-rich prefecture, but the highlight for history buffs has to be the Museum Meiji-mura, where preserved buildings from the turn of the 20th century are displayed in all their grandeur in an outdoor museum.
