- This is a kishimen (flat noodle) stand-up noodle bar situated on the shinkansen (bullet train) platform between tracks 14 and 15 of Nagoya Station. It opened in Nagoya Station in 1961 and now is a popular noodle bar that is open on most of the platforms. The clear soup made with dried bonito and horse mackerel shavings and the soft noodles are particularly good and go together well with toppings like kakiage (mixture of vegetables and other ingredients fried in batter), deep-fried shrimp, meat, and egg. It’s the perfect place to grab some noodles while you’re waiting to catch the bullet train, and it’s a well known noodle bar for those wanting to grab a quick bite as the train makes a quick stop.

- This restaurant is a three-minute walk from the Taikodori exit of JR Nagoya Station on all lines. Located in the basement of Esca, this kishimen shop opened in 1890. The salt levels and thickness of the soup change with the season, and the flat noodles are made without additives and served in a rich soup stock made from dried bonito and mackerel scad. There’s also “sanshoku-zen” and “happo-zen” sets as well as the popular “miso kishi.”

The restaurant serves handmade juwari soba noodles made with 100% buckwheat flour and ni-hachi soba noodles made with 80% buckwheat flour and 20% wheat flour as well as a la carte dishes and kaiseki course cuisine. The lunchtime zaru soba cold noodles and kakiage sakura shrimp and vegetable tempura set, made with sakura shrimp from Yuigahama, are particularly popular. 名古屋駅地下街「サンロード」に丸亀製麺があります。店舗面積は他の店の1/3ぐらいでしょうか、こじんまりとして効率を考えた作りになっています。お客はお店の外にまで並んでいますが、時間のない急ぎの時には手早く食事ができます。メニューと器は簡素化されているようですね。

お座敷とテーブル席があります。席は指定できないのですが、WEB予約もできます。いろんな定食あるので、大きなメニュー表があって、それをみてるといつも迷ってなかなか決まりません。寒い季節は味噌煮込みうどんをよく食べます。日曜日はランチメニューやってません。それが残念です。
