Aichi Pref. Nagoyashi Higashi-ku Tokugawachou 1001
This is a Japanese Chisen-kaiyushiki-teien style garden (a stroke-style garden around a big pond) in Nagoya City. The garden got its start in 1695 when Tokugawa Mitsutomo, the second feudal lord of the Owari clan, moved to the “Ozone Yashiki” retirement villa, the construction of which he had personally overseen. The garden is a condensed representation of Japan’s nature with clear streams flowing down into a central pond symbolizing the ocean, arranged with hills, a peony garden and iris patch that all combine to produce a beautiful landscape. There is also the Tokugawa Art Museum and a French restaurant that looks out over the garden filled with flowers in all four seasons and which is a lovely place to appreciate the new leaves in spring and the changing colors of the leaves in autumn.

Aichi Pref. Anjoushi Izumichou Nakahongou 180-1
Ishikawa Jozan was born in what is today Izumi Town, Anjo City. Ishikawa Jozan was an early Edo period samurai who was also a well-known poet. He spent last years of his life in the Shisen-do Jozanji Temple in Kyoto. The Jozan-en garden was modeled after the Shisen-do Jozanji Temple and built in the area where Jozan was born to reproduce and share his unique worldview. The elegant garden combines a Chinese garden, traditional circular garden built around a central pond, and garden modeled after the mythical Mt. Penglai. Near the Shisen-kaku hermitage stands a replica of a stone monument dedicated to 36 great points from the Shisen-do Jozanji Temple.

I actually didn’t expect that there’s a place like this in Anjo. There’s only few people who knows this place and I like it that way, so that the solemnity will remain. I love how hospitable the...

Aichi Nagakute-shi Ibaragabasama Otsu 1533-1 Aichikyuhakukinenkoen
"Located right near Ai-Chikyuhaku-Kinen-Koen Station on the Tobu Kyuryo Line (Linimo), this Japanese garden in Aichi Earth Expo Memorial Park (Morikoro Park) is ""a space where tradition and modernity merge in a beautiful natural environment."" Visitors enjoy the seasonal scenery created by trees reflected in the garden's various ponds. A tearoom by one of the ponds lets you enjoy matcha green tea and sweets while taking in the view. Autumn is especially recommended. Satsuki and Mei's House is another popular spot in the garden."

Aichi Areas

around-area-map

Aichi is a prefecture of great natural beauty with Nagoya city at its heart, a busy hub home to a labyrinth of underground shops and the 17th-century Nagoya Castle. Castles are easy to find in this history-rich prefecture, but the highlight for history buffs has to be the Museum Meiji-mura, where preserved buildings from the turn of the 20th century are displayed in all their grandeur in an outdoor museum.
