This embankment along the Sanagawa River in Toyokawa City is a well-known cherry blossom spot with cherry trees along about four kilometers of both banks. Rape blossoms bloom at the same time as the cherry trees in spring when it becomes one of the venues for the Toyokawa Cherry Blossom Festival. An increasingly popular tourist spot, they illuminate the blossoms at night and open stands geared toward the visitors.

This cherry blossom viewing spot is on a hill overlooking Kinuura Bay and the city. It's a 10-minute walk west of Mikawa Takahama Station on the Meitetsu Mikawa Line. The park is also called Senbon-zakura-no-Oyama, related to the spectacle of its roughly 1,000 Yoshino cherry trees. One of the highlights are the cherry trees that are descended from the Usuzumi Zakura trees in Motosu City, Gifu Prefecture. The best time to view the blossoms is from late March to early April. They hold the Oyama Sakura Monogatari cherry blossom festival during the period, when lots of visitors come for flower viewing. The trees are illuminated in the evening, providing some wonderful scenery.

Aichi Areas

around-area-map

Aichi is a prefecture of great natural beauty with Nagoya city at its heart, a busy hub home to a labyrinth of underground shops and the 17th-century Nagoya Castle. Castles are easy to find in this history-rich prefecture, but the highlight for history buffs has to be the Museum Meiji-mura, where preserved buildings from the turn of the 20th century are displayed in all their grandeur in an outdoor museum.
