This strawberry picking farm is located just off of the Kanzanji Smart Interchange on the Tomei Expressway. The farm grows its strawberries utilizing cement retaining walls and the slope of the mountain on which it is located. The farm primarily grows Akihime strawberries, a variety created in Shizuoka whose berries are tender and not very tart. Customers rave that even those who don't like sour flavors can enjoy the farm's delicious, sweet strawberries. In most years, harvest season is from January through early April. The jams by hand on the farm also make delightful souvenirs and gifts.

This private fruit farm, surrounded by an abundance of natural beauty, grows Jiro persimmons, which are seedless and do not require soaking to remove excess astringency like other persimmon varieties. Persimmons are highly nutritious, containing a daily dose of vitamins A and C, and since ancient times it has been said in Japan that ""when the persimmons turn red, the doctors turn blue (out of fear of a lack of patients)."" The farm offers persimmon picking to the general public in November when harvest season comes around. From December through January, the farm uses its huge Jiro persimmons to make luxurious dried persimmons, a favorite Japanese treat."

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
