Also, the water quality is so good that it has been selected as one of the ""Top 100 Comfortable Beaches"" by the Ministry of the Environment. Many people come to this place, particularly locals."
  • Sagara Sun Beach

    Shizuoka Pref. Makinoharashi Sagara
Approximately a 15-minute walk from the Sagara Eigyosho bus stop and a 20-minute drive from the Sagara-Makinohara Interchange off of the Tomei Expressway, this beach is located just south of the Sagara Seaside Park. Here, there is a wonderfully appealing view of Mt. Fuji and the mountain ranges of Izu. The beach swim season is from July 1st through August 31st, during which period ocean-side shops and clubhouses are set up. The gentle waves are just right for children, making this beach an enjoyable spot for families. The beach is divided into a swimming area and a surfing area where one can enjoy marine sports such as body boarding. The waters here are so clean; one may get a glimpse of a sea turtle around.

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
