Located close to the popular sightseeing spot Kawazu Nanadaru in Kawazu Town, Kamo County, Shizuoka Prefecture is this huge double loop bridge stretching 1.1 kilometers in length, 80 meters in diameter, and 45 meters in height. Learning lessons from previous landslides caused by earthquakes, the National Route 414 was completed and the bridge has been constructed for cars to travel up or down the steep slope by traveling around two large loops. The loops of the road encircle a car park operated by the town. The bridge is a popular Kawazu sightseeing spot where you can enjoy the natural Izu greenery, and during the Kawazu cherry blossom festival the cherry blossom trees at the bottom of the bridge are all lit up at night.

The extreme end of the cape has some of the most spectacular views in Minami-Izu, looking out towards Mikomoto Island, Yokone Island, and Ishitori Island, and the Irozaki Lighthouse has been included in the list of the ""Top 50 Most Beautiful Lighthouses in Japan."" Cape Irozaki also marks the boundary between the Pacific Ocean, to the east of the cape, and the Philippine Sea, to the west. The Iro Shrine, which is one of several geo-parks on the Izu Peninsula, can also be visited here."

    Shimoda, Shizuoka Prefecture
There is a small pathway called “Perry Road” which is located about 10 minutes on foot from Izukyu Shimoda Station. This small pathway which continues from Ryosenji Temple to Shimoda Park for about 500 meters is the path which Admiral Perry marched down when he concluded the Shimoda Treaty between Japan and America in the late Edo period. It is a beautiful street with impressive stone pavements and stone buildings, and with shops and cafes standing side by side, this area engenders an atmosphere which brims with an exotic ambience.

    Shizuoka Pref. Kamogunmatsuzakichou Matsuzaki
Namako, or sea cucumber, Wall is probably what Matsuzaki Town in Kamo County, Shizuoka Prefecture, is most well known for. This kind of wall refers to a technique of making a mesh pattern by plastering the joints of square flat tiles arranged on a wall. Especially famous among the many walled houses still remaining in Matsuzaki is the former Kondo residence, whose family used to run a pharmacy there. The small stoned pavement to the side is called Namako Wall Street and it is from here that the atmosphere of the Edo period can still be felt.

    Shizuoka Shimoda-shi Shirahama

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
