Dont bother. Lots of high end shops selling hugely expensive tat with no one in any of them. Get the same experience at the airport duty free stores.

This Japanese-style sweets store located at the corner just before the entrance of the Atami Ginza Shopping Street in Shizuoka Prefecture’s Atami City is a long-established store that was founded in 1918. The Kyuzo-style building catches the eye thanks to the plentiful use of its Showa-period carpenter techniques such as the coffered, finely latticed ceiling, sparrow and butterfly nailhead covers, and decorative ridge-end tiles. Their mainstay product is Yokan (sweet bean jelly), in which one can taste the original flavor of the azuki bean. They maintain the traditional production method and taste, and it has continued to be loved by customers of a wide range of ages since they were founded. At the storefront, they also have various Japanese-sweets on display such as kibi-mochi (millet mochi) and uguisu-mochi (mochi filled with red bean paste and topped with green soy flour).

Your feet will stop when you view this quaint little store, with its traditional outdoor appearance. It is especially attractive at sunset when the lights surrounding the outside are lit. Tokiwagi...

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
