  • Roadside Station Utsunoya Toge (Fujieda Side)
    Transportation
    Shizuoka Pref. Fujiedashi Okabechouokabe 2190-1
A roadside station in Fujieda City. Located in the Utsunoya Pass, both the Shizuoka City side and Fujieda City side have roadside stations with parking lots and shops which stand out for their unusual construction. The shops have tourist information about the region and sell local products such as tea and mandarin oranges. You can also buy meals made with local Japanese yams (specialty of mariko) such as the Grated Yam Lunch Special and Shizuoka Oden Stew.
  • Roadside Station Kawane Onsen
    Transportation
    Shizuoka Pref. Shimadashi Kawanechousasamado 220
A road-side station in Shimada City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Along with the relaxing areas, information and restaurant common to most roadside stations, there is also a day-trip hot-spring and cottages with private baths. The hot-spring water has an ample supply and always runs to every bath non-recycled. Watch the steam locomotives running by from the outdoor baths of the day-trip hot-spring. There are also hands-on classes where you can get personal experience with Kawane tea.

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
