    Kanagawa Pref. Ashigarashimogunhakonemachi Hakone 638
With superb views of both Mt. Fuji and Lake Ashinoko, this popular parkway runs atop the border between Kanagawa and Shizuoka prefectures. Famously, a portion of the road surface is grated, called a 'melodyvape,' so you can hear it play a famous melody as you drive upon it. This curvy parkway with many ups and downs is a favorite with cyclist and drivers wanting to enjoy the feel of the road.

Beautiful view of Mt Fuji. Saw a row of Ferrari cars owner also up there enjoying the scenery. No tour buses up there so air still fresh and not many people.

    Shizuoka Hamamatsu-shi Tenryu-ku Shinonome
"This 53-kilometer-long forest road weaves its way along the ridges of the Southern Japan Alps. Highlights dotting the road include Misakubo Dam, Yamazumi Shrine, Tenryu no Mori forest, and the Tengu Plaza. The 1,000-meter-high road cuts through vast forest road and is renowned for the ""cloud top"" driving one can enjoy along its length. After enjoying a scenic drive on the road, many visitors stop by Akiha Shrine and take a relaxing bath at the Yasuragi no Yu bathhouse. Note that the road is closed for the winter, generally from late December to the end of March."

    Shizuoka Susono-shi Imazato-Suyama
A road that extends from the outskirts of the city of Susono toward Mt. Fuji, affording views of the massive mountain through one's car windows. Fields of flowers along the road display an abundance of rapeseed flowers and cherry blossoms in the spring, hydrangeas in the summer, and cosmos flowers in the fall. The blossoming plants are there thanks to volunteers from the city of Susono, who planted them and still tend them, and various events are held during each blooming season. This means that visitors can enjoy not only the drive but also the changing face of Mt. Fuji and the variety of flowers throughout the four seasons.

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
