    Shizuoka Hamamatsu-shi Naka-ku Motoshirocho 100-2
The castle in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture where the stone walls, the castle gate and castle tower keep have been restored. There's a lot to learn inside the grounds with pictures and models on display as well as a viewing platform on the top level. Surrounding the castle is Hamamatsu Castle Park, a popular meeting spot not just for tourists but for the locals as well.

it used to be very beautiful place but the city made a change to attract tourists and put massive ugly signs or allowed a starbucks to run in the property , all of which has destroyed serenity it had.

    Shizuoka Pref. Atamishi Atami 1993
A castle built in the Momoyama period style located at the Nishikigaura mountaintop in Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The castle was in fact built in 1959; no castle was ever historically located here. The castle tower viewing platform offers a stunning view 160 meters above sea level, and on clear days visitors can see all the way to the Izu Peninsula and Oshima. The castle’s grounds are filled with things to see and do, including a jacuzzi foot bath to soothe aching feet while gazing at beautiful scenery, a free game center, an area where visitors can try various Edo period activities, a museum dedicated to castles and samurai culture, and a tea house offering sweets and spectacular views. The adjoining Atami Trick Art Museum is also popular. Fee required to enter castle grounds.

We went for lunch as there is nowhere else around the castle but it has a nice panoramic view of the sea. The meal itself is simple, based on Japanese noodles (soba/ udon) , options with tempura. The...

A castle that serves as an observation deck, located a five-minute walk from the Kataoka Kita-Yoshida Tokubetsu Shien Gakko bus stop, a 25-minute ride on the Shizutetsu Just Line Bus from JR Shimada Station. Takeda Shingen first used this site as a fortress in 1568, but built a castle in 1571 and renamed Koyama Castle. Visitors can see relics dug up among the castle ruins, pictures of samurai, and a tea house. The observation deck affords a view of Mt. Fuji, and the cherry trees on the grounds are illuminated during the spring blossom season.

Lovely gardens and castle, very helpful English speaking staff around to answer any questions and give an insight to the history of the gardens.

    Shizuoka Shizuoka-shi Shimizu-ku Kanbara
"These are the ruins of Kanbara Castle, constructed around the beginning of Tenmon period (1532 to 1555) by Imagawa. Called the ""Mineshiki no Yamajiro"", it features the main keep on the mountain peak, surrounded by enclosures around. As an impenetrable castle utilizing the topography suitable for a mountain castle, it was only taken twice, by Takeda, and by the allied army of Oda and Tokugawa. It was a robust castle that was only first taken by the might of a major Sengoku daimyo (warlords in the Warring States period). In addition to the remaining stone walls and empty moat, the original appearance has been recreated based on excavation surveys performed for one area before Kanbara Town became a part of Shimizu Ward as a result of a municipal merger."

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
