    Shizuoka Pref. Izushi Shuzenji 761-1-3
This soba restaurant which opened in 1953 in the Shuzenji district of Shizuoka Prefecture’s Ito City operates out of a home with a pure Japanese appearance. It is a popular restaurant with lines forming at peak time. Their standard menu is Zendera-soba, based on the meal one eats after fasting during Buddhist training, and this comes with an entire piece of fresh wasabi complete with leaves still on that is sourced from a farm. With the menu that allows guests to try both Mori-soba and Tororo-soba, enjoy an exquisite taste with various flavors by adding yakumi condiments (grated or chopped topping such as daikon, wasabi, ginger, green onion, red pepper) and sansai (edible wild plants).

    Shizuoka Pref. Numadushi Heda 566-2
A guest house-style Japanese restaurant in Toda, Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, meals are famously prepared using deep sea fish taken directly from the trawlers. Particularly popular are the spider crabs that are kept in tanks in the restaurant for use in dishes. These steamed crabs preserve their rich flavor and are so large that a single one is enough for families and groups. The “spider crab set,” which comes with boat-wrap sashimi and soup, and the limited-quantity “spider crab croquettes” are popular menu items. Other options include red bream, prawns, rockfish, and other fresh seafood.

This diner operated by a dried fish manufacturer is located inside of Numazu Minato Shinsenkan. They offer himono (dried fish) set meals, generously portioned kaisendon (seafood rice bowl), and more at reasonable prices. We especially recommend their weekday-only set meals, which are an incredible bargain. Visitors can also buy delicious and affordably-priced dried fish as souvenirs.

  • Restaurant Amagi

    Shizuoka Ito-shi Futo 1101-10
A 16-minute walk from Futo Station on the Izu-Kyuko Line or an 18-minute drive from JR Ito Station. The restaurant is located within the Saijotaku Art Museum, Japan's first art museum with a focus on the works of contemporary Chinese ink-wash painter, Cui Ru Zhuo. The full glass wall gives a great ocean view and on clear days you can see out to Izu Oshima Island and the other various Izu Islands while enjoying your meal. Recommended is their lunch option available at a reasonable price and including your choice of pasta, gratin, or casserole along with soup, salad, and an ice cream dessert. This cafe and restaurant is located inside Hamamatsu Flower Park, a relaxing garden which consists of a variety of seasonal flowering plants. The establishment serves light meals, snacks, and soft drinks. The restaurant's Majimena Yasai Curry is one of the most popular items on the menu and is made with an abundance of large-cut vegetables grown completely without pesticides or chemical fertilizers. The filling and exquisite Enshu Futago-don rice bowl is topped with a heaping mound of kamaage boiled and homemade-style soy sauce-stewed shirasu whitebait from the Enshu Sea. The Konami's Soft Serve Ice Cream, topped with a special sauce made from seasonal fruits and vegetables, is also popular.

    Shizuoka Fujinomiya-shi Takaramachi 1-2
A restaurant located to the rear of the Fujisan Hong? Sengen Taisha Shrine. Since it was opened in 1965, they've continued to provide okonomiyaki, yakisoba, ramen, set meals, and more. One popular menu option is their traditional Fujinomiya Yakisoba. It's a volume-rich fine dish offering a great amount of shredded cabbage mixed with chewy noodles that is sure to leave you craving it again. When the restaurant first opened they only served okonomiyaki and yakisoba, but due to customer demand they began adding other items to their menu including ramen, oyako-don (chicken and egg rice-bowl), fried liver and chives set meals, gyoza pot stickers, and more, becoming a local favorite known to all the locals.

They're known for their popular Hamburg Steak featuring a crunchy texture. The tender, juicy Hamburg steak pairs perfectly with their smooth original demiglace sauce. When the weather is nice, they offer outdoor seating on their verdant green terrace. Many guests come to relax and take advantage of their Tea-time Service which pairs their patissier made cakes with a drink.

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
