The restaurant’s eel “jubako” (stacked boxes of eel over rice) are particularly popular. Sakuraya let’s its top quality eels swim for several days in snowmelt from Mt. In the restaurant run by local women, you can enjoy various kinds of mackerel cuisine such as fried live mackerel set meals and live mackerel rice bowls, and you can also buy processed items such as homemade dried fish at the shop. It’s a very popular place where, using a numbered ticket system, customers often have to wait for up to an hour or more to be served on national holidays.
