You can recognize this ceramic shop on Oribe Street by its retro building that used to be a merchant's house. The shop mainly deals in Mino-yaki pottery, a tradition that dates back to the Heian period. They stock the work of many studios and artisans with an abundance of unique color schemes and patterns. They also sell pottery from the “Heuge Jyussaku Extreme Potters Group, a spin-off project based on a popular manga cartoon. The gallery on the second floor has a permanent exhibition and a break space where you can enjoy matcha green tea or Japanese sweets while gazing out at the garden.

    多治見の本町オリベストリートにある、うつわ屋さん。古い町家をお店にしていて、風情あるお店です。陶都創造館前の道を入ったところにあります。

"This souvenir shop is located almost in the center of the Nakasendo Highway post town Magome-juku. It handles a wide variety of Kiso handicrafts and specialty confectionery. The shop's recommendation is the handmade folk craft ""Harugoma."" or toy horse which has been made since ancient times in Magome. It is a lucky charm in the form of the Kiso horse and made with straw, that's famed for its simple loveliness. Seasonal sweet chestnut paste, local fruit rice crackers, and skewered sweet rice cakes served with soy sauce and miso are sold here as well. Another popular item is the large sake cup ""Guinomi"" that is made from Japanese cypress grown in a harsh environment, and takes twice as long to grow compared to the common cypress."

This commercial complex at the entrance of Honmachi Oribe Street was the area’s wholesale pottery district until the beginning of the Showa period (1926-1989). In the building that incorporates the image a warehouse in its exterior, there are stores for pottery and miscellaneous goods, an experience corner to overglaze plates and cups, and a corner introducing pieces by young artists. The Tajimi City PR Center on the first floor is lined with many goods such as specialty goods including Mino-yaki pottery for everyday use, Tajimi arare (rice crackers), “Zenmi Suigetsufu” (boiled tsukudani shellfish like food made from dried wheat gluten), Tsuzuhara jam and maple tea, agricultural products, and goods for Tajimi City’s mascot character Unagappa.

Tucked away in the very center of Japan, Gifu prefecture houses mountains, old towns, and one of Japan’s greatest hot springs, Gero Onsen. A tour of the prefecture’s traditional architecture will take you from the mountain-enveloped wooden streets of Takayama to the mountain village of Shirakawago, where visitors can explore 250-year-old thatched roofed houses known as gassho-zukuri.
