The main branch of a café and Western confectionary shop which also has locations overseas situated a five minute drive from the Tajimi Interchange. The owner, who worked in Paris, aims to create new sweets based on classic French confections while respecting the traditions of the past. The shop’s display case is filled with row upon row of different confections, and the selection is so abundant you’ll have difficulty choosing. Particularly recommended is the shop’s specialty “Visitandine,” a small cake made with almonds and browned butter which has even been praised by Parisian confectionary chefs. The shop also offers many seasonal items such as gateau chocolate and shaved ice. The shop’s Nishio matcha and yuzu cake, limited to just three customers a day, is also a must-taste.

This veteran Japanese confectionery has been making sweets with a nod to the seasons in Nakatsugawa since 1864. Their confections with domestic chestnut are especially famous, and their chestnut and mashed sweet potato kurikinton sold from autumn to winter is recommended. Carefully cooked chestnuts are added to the chunky sweet potatoes along with sugar, and then squeezed through a tea cloth. This leaves its natural pale-yellow color and the rich aroma of chestnuts that people love. Year-round sellers are also popular, including their “Ureshi-no-Kuri, made with large chestnuts prepared their own special way that maintains their fragrance and flavor.

"A long standing Japanese confectionary shop located a three-minute walk from the Yaotsu Town Hall. The shop continues to make confections according to secret recipes never taken off the premises and handed down parent to child. The shop's specialty kuri kinton is a popular and simple gem with a mildly sweet sugar taste and rich chestnut flavor. Because they are made with fresh picked chestnuts, they are a seasonal item only offered from late August through early April. The shop also carries an abundant variety of products offered year round, like ""Kuritamadare"" kuri kinton wrapped in gyuhi, and ""Kurimu Daifuku"" candied chopped chestnut kuri kinton mixed with fresh cream."

    朝一に来店したのですが、中々店員の方が出られづ店主の年配女性が対応して頂きましたが、横柄な接客態度、非常識な梱包に怒りを覚えました。

"Head towards Gero Onsen from the Nakatsugawa Interchange on the Chuo Expressway, take a left at the Aoki traffic light, cross the Shiroyama Bridge, and drive a further two kilometers. This Japanese confectionary shop is on the right side of the road heading towards the Naegi traffic light. Other popular products include ""Kahoguri"" - chestnut paste mixed with butter cream and wrapped in a cocoa flavored choux pastry dough; and the ""Dodan no Sato"" Western-style dorayaki pancake sandwich filled with a white azuki bean filling."

You can taste fresh home-roasted coffee with the concept of ""fresh and healthy good quality coffee"" and ""a space for relaxation and comfort."" The menu displays four levels of roasting: light roasting with low bitterness, medium roasting with a good balance of sourness, sweetness and bitterness, slightly dark roasting with sweetness in the bitterness and richness, and dark roasting where you can taste the bitter essence of the coffee. It is fun to find your own favorite coffee from among them. In addition, it also holds a coffee workshop where you can learn to make authentic regular coffee at home."

"This handmade udon noodle shop is located a ten-minute walk from Tajimi Station. You can easily find it by the restaurant's exterior that shows its long history. Their signature dish is ""koro udon,"" which has udon and kishimen noodles made mainly in the Chubu region with soup. Thick, handmade rectangular noodles like kishimen have a pleasant texture and are perfect with the sauce made with tamari soy sauce (which uses less wheat and is thicker and less salty). The standard way of eating is to compare the ""korokake"" (cold udon) and the warm ""Shina soba"" that uses homemade lard."

This bakery is located a two-minute walk from Minosakamoto Station. It makes bread using homemade natural yeast in a small log cabin. The bread using Hoshino natural yeast is a popular item packed with the uniqueness of the store. It is recommended to eat it simply while enjoying the fragrant scent. The stone kiln that bakes bread as well as wheat, chestnuts, red beans and yeast was also built by the store. There are many products that you cannot find anywhere else such as panettone with yogurt yeast or bread with strawberry yeast.

This confectionery is located about 100 meters from the Toson Memorial Museum. It is a specialty store that serves the local Kiso dish Goheimochi, which is made by crushing rice, wrapping it around a skewer, applying sauce to it, and cooking it. Goeheimochi comes in all kinds of shapes depending on the region and its culture. For example, there are waraji, dango, rice balls, and kiritanpo shaped Goheimochi, but at this store only waraji and dango shaped Goheimochi is offered. Located in Magomejuku of Nakatsugawa City, Gifu Prefecture, this soba restaurant is in an old wooden building that exudes history. The interior has a Japanese presence that maintains the feel of a post town, keeping a calm atmosphere you can stretch out in. The dirt work floor is cool in summer, and the coal fire in the fireplace keeps it warm in winter. They do their own milling with a stone millstone, and the thick noodles—only enough made as needed for the day—are hearty and feature a unique taste. In addition to “zaru soba”, the “sansai soba” made with local wild vegetables is also popular.
