    This woodwork shop was born from a desire to make Hida furniture that would be passed down through the generations. Using old timber harvested from the forests of the Hida region, they make items like single slab tables, wooden desks, and smaller items. Their single slab tables made of top-grade wood dried with both natural and artificial processes last a lifetime and grow more beautiful the more they're used. They also offer made-to-order work crafted from mountain cherry, horse chestnut, zelkova, walnut, and other woods. Small items such as clocks, photo frames, and stools make great gifts.

They make one-of-a-kind furniture primarily using Japan's abundant hardwood. Items include dining sets, chairs, sofas and unit furniture. They also produce wooden toys like blocks and xylophones, interior goods, tableware, lacquerware, and more. Also on site are the Seseragi Lounge and Gallery where you can enjoy the rich nature of Takayama and Kiyomi, as well as the Forest Museum that showcases a variety of perspectives on woodworking culture.

    This interior shop located a 15-minute walk from JR Takayama Station Norikura Gate is operated by Hida Sangyo, a furniture company that has inherited the traditions and skills of Hida’s famous furniture craftsmen. The Main Buildings’s first floor features a showcase of the company’s country-style brands, the Kitsutsuki Komono Gallery, a showcase with local arts and crafts and other accessories, and the Sabo Kitsutsuki cafe. The Mori no Kotoba no Ie showcase features a complete kitchen, dining room, living room, and bedroom furnished with their Words from the Forest brands. The Designer’s Room Hida showcase located in the Outlet Building, which displays the work of independent furniture designers, is also worth a visit.

    This showroom is located in Kamiokamoto-machi, Takayama City. The directly-managed shop of a long-established furniture maker that boasts an over 70-year history, its marker is a large red chair. Original furniture making the best use of materials in the spacious interior are on display, and there are many different interior design items such as clocks and lighting fixtures. With a cafe space near the entrance, you can enjoy a relaxing tea or sweets while resting in Hida furniture chairs.

    This is the gallery and shop of Kijiya, a furniture studio that works with wood from Hida-Takayama. They process timber harvested from the rich surrounding environment and create designs that utilize its natural grain and form. The furniture is solid wood, without veneer or plywood, and is so durable that you can use the pieces for decades. In addition to furniture like tables, chests, and stools, they also sell smaller items like pendulum clocks.

    This is a specialty shop for miso and soy sauce opened in 1890. They manufacture and sell naturally brewed miso using carefully selected plenty of rice koji and soybeans following a traditional manufacturing method. Without adopting a manufacturing method that gives priority to productivity, the soybeans are carefully steamed by the hands of craftsmen and aged from eight months to over a year, giving a deep flavor with an old-fashioned umami savoriness brought out to the maximum. In the direct sales shop, in addition to miso and soy sauce sold by weight inside the spacious store, you can also purchase “hoba miso,” a representative local specialty of Hida.

    高山駅の西側にあるマクドナルドです。外国人観光客が多い地域なので、行くと必ず外国人がいます。店員さんも慣れてるのか、普通のおばちゃんが片言の英語でバンバン会話してるのがおもしろいです。 マックカフェが入ってて、なかなか店内もオシャレです。この辺りは夜遅くまでやってるカフェとかないので、そういう時間帯に利用したいときはここに来ます。
