Able to hold a maximum of 900,000 books and with 910 chairs, one of the facilities largest features is the wooden lattice roof, and the library is filled with an openness unlike the image of previous libraries. Globes are hung in each area, making it a new kind of library where you can enjoy yourself even from just one seat position.

- Ozeki & Co., Ltd. is a long-established (founded in 1891) manufacturer of paper lanterns, with its head office in Oguma District, Gifu City. Paper lantern manufacturing is one of Gifu City’s traditional crafts; besides supplying Bon-chochin lanterns to department stores etc. throughout Japan, Ozeki & Co., Ltd. also exports “AKARI” designer lighting brand products (which were developed in collaboration with the U.S. born sculptor Isamu Noguchi) to Europe and North America. AKARI products have won international acclaim for their superior artistic qualities. In addition, Ozeki & Co., Ltd. produce innovative products that break with convention, such as paper lanterns made from traditional Japanese “Washi” paper, and “Letter Lanterns” that can be folded up and sent in the form of a letter, etc.

The exhibition panels in their gallery are available for solo exhibitions. The Shiawase-no-Izumi spring has a naturally high oxygen concentration with properties that include keeping the skin looking young, reducing fatigue, and purifying the blood.

- A ranch about a 15-minute drive from the Hirugano Kogen Smart Interchange on the Tokai Hokuriku Expressway (only accessible with electronic toll collection (ETC) cards). They care for Kiso-uma, Honshu's only Japanese native horse species, and also run a tourist ranch where you can enjoy horseback riding. Kiso-uma average about 135-centimeter-tall and are stocky with short torsos and a friendly disposition. Since they are gentle, everyone from small children to adults can ride worry-free. Their Hirugano Hoplodge pension on the grounds offers a horseback riding package where visitors can get in a lot of riding on both the day of their stay and the day after.

- "A riding club in Iwamura-cho, Ena City, which is said to have the ""nicest rural landscape in Japan."" It's Gifu Prefecture's largest riding club with 56 horses and about 700 members. A variety of programs are available that cater to people's level and reason for riding. These include a beginner course for those with no experience at all, a riding school for those who want to take it up as a hobby and continue day-to-day, and a course that lets you master the basics in 10 sessions, leading to a 5th level riding license. Helmets, boots, and safety vests are included in the participation fees, so you don't need to bring anything in particular."

- This woodwork shop was born from a desire to make Hida furniture that would be passed down through the generations. Using old timber harvested from the forests of the Hida region, they make items like single slab tables, wooden desks, and smaller items. Their single slab tables made of top-grade wood dried with both natural and artificial processes last a lifetime and grow more beautiful the more they're used. They also offer made-to-order work crafted from mountain cherry, horse chestnut, zelkova, walnut, and other woods. Small items such as clocks, photo frames, and stools make great gifts.

They also produce wooden toys like blocks and xylophones, interior goods, tableware, lacquerware, and more. Also on site are the Seseragi Lounge and Gallery where you can enjoy the rich nature of Takayama and Kiyomi, as well as the Forest Museum that showcases a variety of perspectives on woodworking culture.

- This interior shop located a 15-minute walk from JR Takayama Station Norikura Gate is operated by Hida Sangyo, a furniture company that has inherited the traditions and skills of Hida’s famous furniture craftsmen. The Main Buildings’s first floor features a showcase of the company’s country-style brands, the Kitsutsuki Komono Gallery, a showcase with local arts and crafts and other accessories, and the Sabo Kitsutsuki cafe. The Mori no Kotoba no Ie showcase features a complete kitchen, dining room, living room, and bedroom furnished with their Words from the Forest brands. The Designer’s Room Hida showcase located in the Outlet Building, which displays the work of independent furniture designers, is also worth a visit.

With a cafe space near the entrance, you can enjoy a relaxing tea or sweets while resting in Hida furniture chairs.

- This is the gallery and shop of Kijiya, a furniture studio that works with wood from Hida-Takayama. They process timber harvested from the rich surrounding environment and create designs that utilize its natural grain and form. The furniture is solid wood, without veneer or plywood, and is so durable that you can use the pieces for decades. In addition to furniture like tables, chests, and stools, they also sell smaller items like pendulum clocks.

- This is a specialty shop for miso and soy sauce opened in 1890. They manufacture and sell naturally brewed miso using carefully selected plenty of rice koji and soybeans following a traditional manufacturing method. Without adopting a manufacturing method that gives priority to productivity, the soybeans are carefully steamed by the hands of craftsmen and aged from eight months to over a year, giving a deep flavor with an old-fashioned umami savoriness brought out to the maximum. In the direct sales shop, in addition to miso and soy sauce sold by weight inside the spacious store, you can also purchase “hoba miso,” a representative local specialty of Hida.

They actively work on product development, offering such unusual items as their Sera Cheese Cake made with whey (a cheese by-product), a gourd-shaped hanging cheese called caciocavallo, eastern France's unique, high protein cancoillotte cheese sauce, and more.

- This kimono shop is located in Gujo Hachiman, famous for the Gujo Odori dance festival. Based on the concept of creating a new sense in everyday life by re-proposing a piece of dignified inherited Japanese culture that had been lost, they coordinate each and every customer’s encounter with the best kimono that suits them. They also offer rentals in addition to selling them. Most young Japanese people can’t put on kimonos by themselves. But it is free to be dressed the rental yukata by a kitsukeshi (person who helps another person get dressed), and they can be rented until the end of the dancing on the day of the Gujo Odori festival. During the Tetsuya Odori (late night dancing held for four nights during the Gujo Odori festival) period, and their rental hours are extended until midnight.

- This store has sold Mino-yaki pottery produced in the Mino region on Oribe Street since the Meiji period (1868-1912), and is located in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture. The large signboard made from pottery at the time of its opening greets you just in front of the entrance. You can find your own favorite pieces from among the colorful pottery that is displayed at a low level so that it is easier to pick up. The draw is that you can purchase traditional Mino-yaki and modern pieces that shine with the sense of the craftsmen at affordable prices.

手入れの行き届いた古いお店で、気持ちの良い買い物ができました。ちょうど雛祭りの最終日で、街自体の雰囲気もとてもよかったです。 主人の話によると、美濃エリアの30窯から仕入れた商品が一度に見れるそうです！江戸時代から続く卸売がメインの老舗のようで、値段もとても嬉しい値段でした^_^

- A shop owned and operated by The Saiko Design lighting company standing along the Town of Udatsu Roofing Streets. The shop carries a variety of stylish and cute paper lantern lights made by hand using Japanese washi paper, and the shop’s wide selection includes everything from ceiling lights to table lamps. In addition to old-fashioned, Japanese-style lights, the shop also offers chandelier-style lights, blue lights inspired by the ocean, and more, ensuring customers can find lights suitable not just for a Japanese-style room but Western-style rooms, halls, and all manner of interior areas. Delicate and beautiful Japanese washi paper lights also make great souvenirs and gifts to give back home for international travelers. The shop is only regularly closed during the New Year’s holidays, although the shop might also close occasionally as necessary.

- This veteran oil wholesaler with a history of 140 plus years was founded in 1876. Its head office is on a small road between Inaba Shrine and National Route 256. Originally, they pressed rapeseed oil, but after the facility was destroyed in air raids, they became wholesalers, making use of their previous experience. Now they primarily offer karinto fried dough cakes, shortbread, and biscuits. They also produce the Daichi-no-Oyatsu line of sweets in collaboration with the Japanese confectionery artisan Machino Kimihide, also known as “Macchin. They use their know-how and passion as oil wholesalers to make sweets that feel safe and familiar as the decades roll by.
