This is a day trip hot spring facility inside the Komagane Kogen Alpine Hill Family Vacation Village in Hayataro Hot Spring, with water from Komagane Highland in Komagane City, Nagano Prefecture. There is a famous rotemburo open-air bath in which bathers can immerse themselves while looking out over the 3,000-meter-high Southern Alps (Akaishi Mountains). There are also rock pools and two types of Japanese cypress baths in perfect harmony with nature, and one can be healed of tiredness while watching magnolia in full bloom in spring or the snowy landscape in winter. It is also equipped with a light meal and rest corner.

This day-trip hot spring facility is located in Kiso-machi, Kiso County, Nagano Prefecture. You can see Mt. Ontake from the indoor baths and rotenburo (open-air baths), and can enjoy the high quality hot spring while taking in the beauty of the natural environment. Because the hot spring has a high iron content, it has a characteristically brownish-red color. Inside the facility, there is also a rest area and large hall with a stage, making it a place that bustles with people who use it as a place to take a break or various other purposes.

    Nagano Kiso-gun Kisomachi Shinkai 3968-2
A hot spring bathhouse situated along National Route 361 in Shinkai, Kiso Town, Kiso County, Nagano Prefecture. The waters of the bathhouse' carbon dioxide sodium chloride hydrogen carbonate cold mineral spring are said to treat such ailments as cuts, burns, chronic skin diseases, weak constitutions in children, chronic women's diseases, high blood pressure, and hardening of the arteries. The bathhouse has two bathing areas, the Mikage and Hinoki, each with an outdoor bath; which is the men's and which is the women's alternates daily. There's also a rest lounge and restaurant.

This day-trip hot spring facility is located in Kiso-machi, Kiso County, Nagano Prefecture. You can take relaxing soaks in hot springs in a ravine surrounded by mountains of Kiso. On clear days, you are able to see Mt. Komagatake, Mt. Mugikusa and Mt. Misawa from the hot springs. It also features a bubbling carbonated spring you can enjoy. In addition, there is a Japanese-style resting place available for private rentals, and also a restaurant to eat edible wild plants and soba noodles.

  • Komakusa no Yu
    Accommodations / Hot Spring
    Nagano Pref. Komaganeshi Akaho 759-4
Komakusa no Yu is a day-trip spa facility that is in the highlands of Komagane City that offers a great view of the Southern Alps (Akaishi Mountains). The indoor facilities such as the medicinal baths, jet baths, cold baths, and sauna are nice, but the open-air baths allow you to experience nature in all its grandeur. You can see the Chuo Alps (Kiso Mountains) on days where the horizon line between the sky and the Alps is beautifully clear. It’s three minutes by car from the Komagane Interchange on the Chuo Expressway, or 13 minutes on the Shirabidaira-bound bus from JR Komagane Station.
  • Kakizore Onsen Keikoku no Yado Ichikawa
    Accommodations / Hot Spring
    Nagano Pref. Kisogunnagisomachi Yomikaki 1380-6
"Ichikawa Inn, a hot spring inn, is a 15-minute drive from Minami Kiso Station or about 40 minutes from the Nakatsugawa Interchange, and it is a perfect base for exploring the scenic wonders of Kakizore Gorge, including Kirigataki Falls and the Koiji Suspension Bridge. It is also available for day use. The water in the hot spring is acidic and infused with radon, and as the radon gas is absorbed into the body, it promotes excretion of uric acid, leading to this hot spring being called ""Tsufu no Yu"" (spring for gout). The cuisine served at the inn is centered on seasonal ingredients, such as tree buds, wild plants, and highland vegetables, and the inn's Char Ramen, prepared in a way that eliminates the fishy odor typical of river fish, and Iwana Mabushi Don, rice steamed with char, are highly regarded. The local sake, Somazake, is also available."
  • Hayataro Onsen
    Accommodations / Hot Spring
    Nagano Komagane-shi Akaho Komagane Kogen
The Hayataro Onsenkyo village, situated at the foot of the Central Alps, was named after the legend of a dog named Hayataro that was kept by the Kozenji Temple. The waters of the area's simple alkaline hot springs, selected for a list of some of Japan's 100 best, are colorless, odorless, and slippery to the touch. Here visitors will find distinctive hot spring hotels, ryokan inns, government-run lodging houses, and day trip bathhouses; regardless of where you go, you're sure to be able to enjoy a relaxing soak and beautiful, seasonal scenery. There are also an abundance of area sightseeing destinations, such as Komagatake Highland; Komagaike Pond, particularly known for its beautiful spring cherry blossoms and fall foliage; and the aforementioned Kozenji Temple. Be sure to try the area's abundance of fresh and delicious food from the mountains; sauce katsudon pork cutlet rice bowls are a local specialty.

Nagano Areas

around-area-map

Nagano prefecture is an exciting mix of mountains, hot spring monkeys, and preserved Edo history. At the heart of the Japanese Alps, Nagano is one of the country’s most popular destinations, whether in winter for its snow sports and the much-loved Jigokudani Monkey Park or in the warmer months for discovering the undulating hills on foot. For fantastic Edo architecture, head to the Kiso Valley for a 60-kilometer stretch of quaint wooden buildings that marked the Nakasendo route 200 years ago.
