The shopping mall is host to Japanese Azumido, a shop which sells local oyaki dumplings and pickles; Japanese confectionary shops; restaurants; interior design shops; an outdoor goods store; and a large bookstore.

    Nagano Azumino Hotaka Ariake 3618-24
    A museum located in Azumino City which introduces the history of the cultivation of the Japanese oak silkmoth. Thread made using the cocoons of the moths is produced similar to that of regular silk, but the resulting fabric is lighter and softer, and possesses a distinctive color and luster. Inside, visitors can learn about the history of Japanese oak silkmoths and their ecology. In the adjoining studio, visitors can watch as textiles are woven from the moths' cocoons. The museum's shop sells Japanese oak silkmoth silks and accessories. In addition, visitors can also see actual Japanese oak silkmoths being raised in an open breeding house on the grounds.

    We visited Azumino during the off season of March. The town bus was not running during our visit. We took a taxi to the Azumino Tensan Center. The taxi was about $23.00 US from the Hotaka station...

    A long-established lacquerware store founded in 1907, dealing mainly in Kiso lacquerware and also in various regional lacquerware such as Yamanaka, Aizu, and Echizen lacquerware. The shop displays lacquerware which can be used daily such as bowls, trays, dishes, etc. The sign marked with a lion and peony flowers is a landmark.

    松本城下の御おかげを残す中町通りにそって今なお現役で営業している漆器の専門店です。看板からして牡丹と獅子という粋なデザインで、ついつい立ち寄ってしまいます。売れている商品は正真正銘の漆細工の食器がメインなのでお手段は高価ですが、一見の価値はあります。

    This commercial complex is located in Hakuba Village, Kita-azumi County, Nagano Prefecture. The base center of Hakuba Goryu Ski Resort (Able Hakuba Goryu), it is open for 24 hours a day from December until the end of March. Besides dining facilities inside the complex, there are also shops renting ski equipment and selling outlet goods, and hot spring facilities. You can also find a paid rest facility for guests who arrive late at night or very early in the morning.

    This doll shop continues to sell Matsumoto oshie-bina, Japanese hina dolls made using raised cloth, a tradition which dates back to the Edo period. This is the only shop in Matsumoto City which still makes oshie-bina dolls. In addition to hina dolls, the shop is filled with oshie-bina doll decorations themed after the Seven Gods of Fortune and the folktale for Momotaro. Berami’s hina dolls are placed on a bamboo skewer and are the perfect thickness, winning them popularity for the ease with which they can be set up and used as decorations. A 12-minute walk from JR Matsumoto Station.

Using a grinder to replicate each individual feather, the studio's carvings are detailed and lifelike. The studio produces carvings of a variety of birds, including kingfishers, Japanese white-eyes, tree sparrows, bull-headed shrikes, and wagtails. The studio also produces humorous caricaturized sculptures. As all of the studio's carvings are handmade, each is unique.

    An herb shop adjoining an herb garden. The shop sells original herbal tea blends made with a variety of herbs. In addition to herbal teas, the shop also offers aroma therapy oils, potpourri, soaps, cosmetics, and a wide array of other goods made using herbs. All of the herbs used in the shop's products were grown without the use of agricultural chemicals. From spring to fall, the shop also sells caffeine-free herbal mocha soft serve ice cream made with dandelion and chicory.

    This long-standing miso shop was established in 1832 and is located a five-minute walk from Matsumoto Castle. Primarily making and selling miso, the shop notably continues to make its miso according to an old-fashioned, traditional method called miso-dama-zukuri. The shop only uses domestic ingredients to craft its products. Particularly recommended is the Hourei miso, made using the miso-dama-zukuri method. Other varieties include the Shinshu miso-style Tenjo and Tanrei misos, and customers can choose the miso or misos they like the best. Originally a koji malted rice maker, the shop also sells an abundant variety of koji pickles made with ingredients from Matsumoto such as pickled coleseed greens and uri melon kasuzuke sake lee pickles.

    A hand toasted senbei rice cracker shop situated in front of Yohashira-jinja Shrine several businesses down from the west entrance of the Nawate-dori shopping street. The shop's main store is located in Tokyo's Sugamo, and the chain also has locations nationwide, primarily in Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefecture. The shop focuses not on low price but rather making high quality senbei according to traditional methods. The shop only uses choice domestic rice and soy sauce. The shop also sells fresh-toasted senbei, a perfect snack to enjoy on the go. Particularly recommended are the close to 20 varieties of miso senbei, such as the Shinshu (Nagano) miso senbei. The shop can also make you senbei crackers with your name on them, though orders take more than a week to make.

The shop sells Nagano miso and pickles made by the company as well as popular Nagano confections and crafts made in Matsumoto. Particularly recommended is the Hourei miso made according to a traditional method called ""miso-dama-zukuri."" The shop is a fun destination where you can find a variety of famous Matsumoto specialty products gathered under one roof."

    A handmade Japanese washi paper studio whose origins are believed to date back to 1042 when a shrine servant used wild mulberry, a raw ingredient used in washi, to make paper for a festival on the request of Nishina Shinmeigu Shrine. Visitors can tour the actual shop floor where the studio makes its wash and also try hand-sieving washi paper themselves. The washi papermaking activity requires an advance reservation, so be sure to contact the studio in advance.

    This long-established western sweets shop founded in 1884 was given a new building in 1998, and features a simple yet innovative design that blends in to the townscape of the Matsumoto castle town. Their representative sweets are the steamed confection Kaiun-oimatsu and Japanese style nougat Shinmito. With a cute swan as its icon, their western-style sweet Swan Lake is also popular and is frequently featured in magazines. They have a soft ice cream robot inside the store, and guests can purchase their treat by operating the touch panel themselves. The closest station is Matsumoto Station.

    以前、頻繁に松本を訪れていたころに1、2度来たことがありますが、職場へのお土産を買うために久しぶりに訪れました。 以前と違い、イートインコーナーが充実していました。 何種類か常温で持ち帰れるお菓子を買いましたが、値段はやや高め。味は間違いないです。

In addition to displaying and selling nearly 400 pieces of furniture including chairs, tables, and desks on a regular basis, they also carry many folk items from around the world that are sure to add color to everyday life.

    This “hideout” café operates on the second floor of “Gunjo”—a beauty parlor in a remodeled warehouse. The café was opened by beauty parlor regulars, and its interior features a relaxed space with a mix of East and West. From the large window, you can get a clear view of Nakamachi and its rows of warehouses—popular with tourists. The homemade sweets are also popular, with handmade dishes like “soba powder crepe” and “soy milk and white sesame pudding” a hit with female customers. The closest station is Matsumoto Station.

Original brands can be ordered. You can do a trial “tenkoku” if you make a reservation; it takes about one hour to complete with instruction.

    A cute café located in Hotakaariake, Azumino City, Nagano Prefecture. With a yellow building resembling a small hotel, its country-style interior creates a soothing and warm atmosphere. The café’s sweets and dishes, laboriously prepared by the chef using local ingredients, are highly reviewed. Particularly popular menu options include the slow-stewed beef stew and the sweets sampler, which comes with three or four sweets. A corner of the café is a shop space selling natural stone accessories and knickknacks. The picturesque scenery of Azumino stretches out from the windows on the second floor, and here you can relax and forget the passage of time.

The items on display are also for sale, and include bowls, accessories, and knickknacks crafted one at a time by artisans. There is also a café space in the back. Different coffees and teas are selected to go with the current exhibition.
