A long-established winery boasting a history of more than 80 years since its foundation in Kikyogahara. The large winery has been built in the middle of the vast vineyard. From the cultivation of grapes to the making of wine, and bottling, the antioxidant and additive free wine is an easy to drink, fruity tipple. The shop sells good quality wines as well as the Wine Castella which can only be purchased here, and Concord's additive free jams, etc. They also have a tasting corner where you can sample the fine wines.

Kukuya Syunsui is located near to the front gate of Shinshu Zenkoji Temple and sells Shinshu cakes and confections. The shop sells various goods in collaboration with a hand towel shop, Kamawanu, and they also have Zenkoji Temple ‘Yawataya Isogoro’ peppers, popular as souvenirs from Shinshu. Additionally, they sell Shinshu miso, Shinshu fruit jam, honey, and Western and Japanese style confectionery among other things. The shop has a full take-out menu and their soba crepes and soba galettes can only be tasted here. They also have limitedly available foods on the menu too.

Karuizawa is regarded as the birthplace of jam in Japan. In this shop decorated throughout in white are a range of bottled foods such as jam and jelly. Unexpectedly great flavors are created by carefully selecting ingredients when they are at their best. All the products are hand finished over time without any added sugar or additives to draw out the natural flavors. Popular products include the Premium Pudding Jam, also featured on television. This shop sells Western-style sweets made with in-season fruits cultivated and harvested in Shinshu. There are always 15 varieties of beautiful cakes decorating the showcase. A nice selection of tarts evokes the seasons, with Shinshu apricot tart or Shinshu black fig tart. As for chocolates, the bon bon chocolate is recommended. This well-established confectioner is well known for Iiyama’s famous “Chiyo no ume.” Azuki red bean jam is wrapped in gyuhi, and tucked in a shiso leaf in this Japanese confection. It has a history of popularity as an Iiyama souvenir. “Chestnut chuka manju” with chestnut-filled red bean paste in dora-yaki is recommended. Everything is made fresh, so the sekihan rice and okowa are great but require a reservation. The owner trained in a Western confection shop, so you may see fruit cakes out sometimes too.

You’ll find this oyaki (bun stuffed with red bean paste, etc.) specialty store along Prefectural Route 310 when entering from the Azumino Interchange of the Nagano Expressway. There are over 20 types of oyaki available, including standard varieties made with nozawana (rape greens) and cut, dried radish as well as monthly specials. You can also choose the dough type and grill it by the fireplace inside the store. In addition, they carry several Shinshu specialty products, such as pickled nozawana.

The “Fukiya no onsen manju” buns are filled with homemade strained bean paste, and this popular product has been around for nearly 100 years.
