This temple famous for its gardens, a nationally-designed historic site and scenic area, was chosen by samurai warlord Takeda Shingen to serve as his family's temple. It also boasts many attractions including a good number of cultural properties such as its four-legged gate, a National Important Cultural Property, and the family gravesite of Takeda Shingen, a prefecturally-designated Historical Site. Thought to be the place where viticulture (grape cultivation) in Koshu began, this temple is also known as budo-ji (grape temple). The temple's Yakushido Hall still possesses valuable Manjusri and Vaisravana statues donated in the Edo Period by the children of Takeda Katsuyori, who had stayed there. The temple accepts reservations for ascetic practice experiences, viewings of seated meditation, and other activities.

"To reach Unpoji Temple, visitors should take the bus bound for Daibosatsu Tozanguchi from Enzan Station on the JR Chuo Line in the city of Koshu, Yamanashi Prefecture. A five-minute walk will bring them to Unpoji, a temple of the Rinzai sect of Buddhism. It was founded in 745 by the monk Gyoki. It was destroyed by fire in the middle of the 16th century, but the main building and the lecture hall were rebuilt in 1558. At present, the main building, library, and Nio Gate are designated as Important Cultural Properties. Among the historical treasures in its possession are the ""Sun Tzu"" battle flag of the Takeda clan, a clan that was affiliated with this temple, and the regimental flags. The ""Mine no Sakura"" cherry tree in front of the Treasure Hall was planted about 700 years ago and has been designated a Natural Monument."

"Onmyoji Temple, a temple of the Nichiren sect of Buddhism, is located in the city of Fuefuki, Yamanashi Prefecture, just a short walk from Isawa Onsen Station on the JR Chuo Line. It is known as the site of Ukai (The Cormorant Keeper), a Noh play that was revised by the famous 15th century playwright Zeami, and the story of the cormorant keeper is still a part of the temple's heritage. According to the legend, a man used cormorants for fishing in the Isawa River, where it was forbidden to take any lives, was put to death, and became a ""hungry ghost."" In 1274, Nichiren visited the temple and performed a memorial service and exorcism for the cormorant fisherman so that he could achieve Buddhahood. A powerful statue of the guardian deity Nio is placed at the Niomon Gate, and within the temple grounds, visitors can see the Ukaido (Cormorant Keeper's Hall) and the Kuyoto (Memorial Tower)."

"A five-minute walk from Isawa-Onsen Station on the JR Chuo Main Line. Records state this ancient Shingon Chisan Buddhist temple was founded in 722 by the great priest Gyoki and is counted as one of the seven Shingon danrin educational temples of Kai. The temple's name, which means translates to ""Tripitaka"" (the Buddhist canon), is derived from a two tier Buddhist tower built by the samurai Kai Province governor Takeda Nobunari in 1370 in which was placed a copy of the Tripitaka as an offering. A Takeda clan family temple, the temple still possesses a Shogun Jizo statue the mighty Takeda Shingen donated to pray for success in the Battles of Kawanakajima. The temple is also deeply connected to the great Tokugawa clan and possesses treasures such as a three faced Mahakala statue which was personally used by Tokugawa Ieyasu himself. A colored silk work of art depicting the death of the Buddha, designated a National Important Cultural Property, is another of the temple's many cultural assets."

    石和温泉駅の温泉街と反対側にあります。時間がなかったので少し寄りました。 山門の像が立派でした。義民名主島田富重郎の墓があるそうです○

Keitoku-in Temple is located in the city of Koshu in Yamanashi Prefecture. Tokugawa Ieyasu, who later became shogun, founded it in 1582 in memory of Takeda Katsuyori, who committed suicide on nearby Mt. Tenmoku. It suffered several fires in the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries, but the main gate, which never burned, is a Prefectural Designated Cultural Property, and the grounds and the grave of Takeda Katsuyori are Prefectural Designated Historic Sites. About fifty graves are on that site, including Katsuyori's wife and his son Nobukatsu, along with numerous maidservants. It attracts visitors as the last resting place of the Takeda clan.
