The entire 10 kilometers the Ome Highway follows the Taba River in Tabayama Village in the Tama River headwaters region is considered a magnificent fall foliage viewing destination. The reds and golds of the area's maples, horse chestnuts, and oaks are well balanced and stunningly color both the river and mountain sides of the highway. Nametoro, a picturesque destination a 30-minute walk west of Taba notable for its stream waters weaving between mountains and boulders, is known for its particularly beautiful fall foliage. Visitors can also enjoy hot spring bathing in the Nomekoiyu bathhouse in the area.

Yamanashi Areas

around-area-map

Yamanashi prefecture is the proud home of one of Japan’s most celebrated icons: Mount Fuji. Although the mountain straddles both Yamanashi and Shizuoka, the most breathtaking views of Fuji-san can be seen from the Fuji Five Lakes north of the mountain in Yamanashi prefecture. The plethora of outdoor activities in and around the lakes all have the benefit of the country’s highest mountain as their backdrop, and we can assure you that it is an unforgettable sight.
