    This 2,057 meter-tall mountain in Tanbayama Village, Kitatsuru County, Yamanashi Prefecture was designed as one of Japan's 100 best mountains. From the ridge, you can see mountains including Mt. Fuji, the Minami Alps, Mt. Norikura, and Mt. Yatsugatake. The long, gently sloping mountain ridge makes it a popular destination for beginning climbers. In the summer, you can enjoy views of the mountain's wild grasses and flowers, while in the autumn you can enjoy views of the fall foliage.
  • Saruhashi Bridge

    This bridge, along with the Kintaikyo-Bridge of Iwakuni and the Kiso no Kakehashi Bridge, is one of Japan's three most famous unusual bridges. The 30 meter-long, 3.3 meter-wide bridges do not have any piers. It is notably supported by four-layered Hanegi (slantingly protruding wooden member to support roof and bridge) that extend from both sides of the river. The bridge is said to have been inspired by arched shape of a troop of monkeys walking along a deep ravine. This scenic spot is a great place to enjoy the seasonal scenery of the Katsura River Valley.

    Using the gozensui water that springs from a home well, and abundantly using sake-suitable rice contracted locally to carefully hand-make sake, Sasaichi Sake Brewery is a company with a history of over 300 years that sincerely focuses on sake-brewing. Its Japanese sake is famous, but they make wine and liqueur as well.
  • Kawaguchiko Motor Museum / Air Museum

    Only open in August every year, the Kawaguchiko Motor Museum shows off a variety of cars, divided into Hall A, with exhibits from the birth of cars to the 1950s with different themes, and Hall B, with exhibits of cars from the 1950s to the present. You can also see airplanes in the adjacent airplane building and cars displayed outside near the parking lot.

    Focusing on display of materials related to worship of Mt. Fuji, the Fujisan Museum (Fujiyoshida City Museum of History and Folklore) depicts the industries, folklore, history and compositional assets of Fuji Yoshida region. The adjacent Oshi (Former-Togawa family House), whose main building was built in 1768 and whose back parlor was added around the end of Shogunate, still exists as it did then, so you can see it today and learn many important historical things.
  • Mt. Iwadonosan Maruyama Park

    This park is located in Kowaze, Nigiokamachi, Otsuki City at the foot of the 634-meter-tall Mt. Iwado. One of its facilities includes the Iwadonosan Fureai no Yakata, which exhibits materials related to the Mt. Iwadono. The park is also famous for its cherry blossoms. During the annual Otsuki Cherry Blossom Festival held each spring, the park's cherry blossom trees are illuminated at night and paper lanterns are placed along the climbing trails.

    This research institute in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture is dedicated to collecting knowledge about Mt. Fuji and disseminating this information to the public. In addition to publishing an academic journal, the institute also organizes events related to Mt. Fuji and its forests including guided walks and special exhibitions. The institute also offers lectures on demand to high schools students.
  • Fuji Tozan Densha

    A mountain railway operated by Fuji Kyuko. It runs between Otsuki Station in Otsuki, Otsuki City, and Kawaguchiko Station in Funatsu, Fuji Kawaguchiko Town, Minamitsuru County. It's made up of two train cars, Aka-Fuji and Ao-Fuji, designed by industrial designer Eiji Mitooka and you can enjoy a journey on these retro-modern train cars equipped with observation seats and counter seating.
  • Magi Mt. Oiseyama

    This 550-meter-tall mountain is located in Otsuki-cho, Otsuki City. It is famous for the nearly 3,000 cherry blossom trees that bloom there in the spring. A number of events are hosted in the area including the annual Otsuki Cherry Blossom Festival. During the festival, the mountain's cherry blossoms are illuminated at night. The sight of Mt. Fuji seen from the mountain's peak has been selected as one of the Shurei Fugaku Junikei, a list of 12 great views of Mt. Fuji from the peaks of mountains in Otsuki City.
  • Shishidome Power Station

    This Tokyo Electric Power Company hydroelectric power plant is located about 15 minutes from Tsuru Interchange on the Chuo Expressway. Built on the slope of a mountain, the power plant started operation in 1913. It is famous for the more than 250 cherry blossom trees planted on both sides of its water pipes. Although the facility is not open to the public, the surrounding area is maintained for making visitors enjoy taking a stroll or viewing the flowers. The cherry blossoms can also be viewed from National Route 139, which runs nearby the facility. The blooming season is from early to mid-April. The fall foliage in the area around the power station's sluice gate, which is a national Registered Tangible Cultural Property, is also quite beautiful.
  • Oniwa

    Located a one-minute walk from the Oniwa bus stop or a 50-minute drive from the Kawaguchiko Interchange. A picturesque location at the head of the mountain trail close to the bus stop at the 5th Station on the Fuji Subaru Line. Heading up the mountain is Oniwa, while heading down the mountain is Okuniwa. Near the staircase which connects to the walking trail is an entrance to one of Mt. Fuji's parasite volcanoes. Larch can be seen here and there on the bare volcanic gravel giving it the appearance of a spreading Japanese garden. At an altitude of 2400 meters it's also the tree line. From here you can see the summit of Mt. Fuji from up close and the sunset view is spectacular.

    Located a one-minute walk from the Oniwa bus stop or a 50-minute drive from the Kawaguchiko Interchange. A picturesque location at the head of the mountain trail close to the bus stop at the 5th Station on the Fuji Subaru Line. Heading up the mountain is Oniwa, while heading down the mountain is Okuniwa. It's also known as the Tengu Playground and you can still see the Torii gate and Tengu boulder. On either side of the pathway you can see Japanese larch and northern Japanese hemlock which have survived the wind and snow. From mid to late July is the best time to visit to see the Hakusan rhododendron. From the observation platform you can see Shichitaro Ridge as well as the Komitake volcano.
  • Gekkoji Dori Street

    A street just a short walk east of Gekkoji Station. Paper lanterns hang from above along the Gekkoji Daimon Shopping Arcade and the appearance of the shops lining the street will take you back to the Showa-period (1926-1989). The area flourished in the textile industry during the early Showa-period to the 1960s and many shops are still open to this day. Part of the appeal is the sense of nostalgia you'll feel as you wander the variety of shops. The streetlights have an extreme retro design and some buildings have almost fallen into a state of disrepair. This well known spot has also been used for location shooting in movies.
  • Kana-dorii Gate

    A Torii gate just a five-minute walk from Mt. Fuji Station or a five-minute drive from the Kawaguchiko Interchange. It towers over the street and has the kanji for Mt. Fuji framed upon it. It was first built in 1788 and was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt. The current gate was constructed in 1957. It was originally called the Karakane-dorii as it was made from bronze imported from ancient China ('Kara' meaning ancient China and 'Kane' meaning bronze) and the current Kana-dorii name is said to be a corruption of the original name. It serves to welcome believers who are coming to climb Mt. Fuji and passing through the gate moves you from the secular world to the world of the Mt. Fuji faith.
  • Fujiyama Museum

    An art museum located on the grounds of La Ville de Gaspard et Lisa adjoining Fuji-Q Highland just of the Kawaguchiko Interchange on the Chuo Expressway. Built to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Fuji Kyuko Co., Ltd., the museum displays works of art depicting Mt. Fuji created by various modern artists collected over a 40-year period. The museum holds special exhibitions featuring original drawings of popular French characters Lisa and Gaspard, as well as works depicting Mt. Fuji created by the likes of Shigeo Nagashima and Tsurutaro Kataoka. The museum also holds painting classes and daily crafting classes as needed, making this a fun destination for children and adults alike.
  • Kaneyama Falls

    Kaneyama Falls, with a 10-meter drop in two streams, is on the upper reaches of the Katsuragawa River, which flows into the Sagamigawa River. Formerly, it was called Kaneyama Pool, because the pool at the bottom of the falls is extremely deep. In the spring, the azalea bloom, and visitors enjoy the fresh greenery in the summer, while the Japanese maples are lovely in the fall. The contrast between these plants and the white foam from the falls is delightful. The falls are located a short walk from the so-called Fujisan Museum (the former Fuji-Yoshida Museum of Local History).

    This observatory is located on the ridge of Mt. Ashiwada along the Tokai Nature Trail. It features 360-degree panoramic views of the Aokigahara Sea of Trees , Mt. Fuji, Lake Saiko, Lake Motosuko, and more. The scenery is particularly wondrous and beautiful from late October to mid-November thanks to the autumn foliage.

  • Taba Canyon

    The entire 10 kilometers the Ome Highway follows the Taba River in Tabayama Village in the Tama River headwaters region is considered a magnificent fall foliage viewing destination. The reds and golds of the area's maples, horse chestnuts, and oaks are well balanced and stunningly color both the river and mountain sides of the highway. Nametoro, a picturesque destination a 30-minute walk west of Taba notable for its stream waters weaving between mountains and boulders, is known for its particularly beautiful fall foliage. Visitors can also enjoy hot spring bathing in the Nomekoiyu bathhouse in the area.
