Due to the teahouse's association with Dazai Osamu, its second floor serves as the Dazai Osamu Literary Memorial Room. Their hoto noodle hotpot featuring copious amounts of stewed vegetables and homemade noodles finished with locally-made miso paste was beloved by both Dazai Osamu and Ibuse Masuji.

Yatsukoma Hirauchi Soba is located along National Route 141, reachable from either the Sutama Interchange or the Nagasaka Interchange on the Chuo Expressway. Its business hours are 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., but customers will be happy to know that the owners can serve them outside those hours by prior arrangement, even if only one guest makes this request. Note, however, that the owners close the restaurant when they have sold all their soba for the day. Everything, including the noodles, is made by hand, although traditional grinding blocks are used to grind the dried fish for the Dashi (broth). In pursuit of perfect flavor, they take great care in adding the thickener and other processes. The most recommended dish is Seiro, in which each chopstick full of soba is dipped in the sauce individually.

This soba shop is in Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture. It uses stone-ground, clear soba flour for aromatic noodles. On Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, they offer a taste-test platter of four types of noodle: 100% soba (course ground), 100% Dattan soba (Tartary buckwheat), and 100% whole grain soba. This will help accent the differences in these unique styles of noodles.

A soba noodle shop located 15 minutes from the Nagasaka Interchange on the Chuo Expressway. As you enter the subdued Japanese style interior a glass walled soba pulling corner is just to your right. They use only seasonal local produce and fresh ingredients and their buckwheat is traditional Edo-buckwheat, bought directly from contracted farmers and ground themselves. The noodles are handmade every morning with the water the Yatsugatake mountain region is blessed with. Their dipping sauce has a little kick to it in the Edo-style and they proudly serve both tempura dipping soba and soba soup with mushrooms. Reservations are required in the evening and you can try a soba kaiseki traditional multi course meal.

A soba restaurant located a 10-minute drive from the Nagasaka Interchange on the Chuo Expressway. The buckwheat come from Oizumi, famous for its buckwheat, and is ground every day before being handmade into noodles ensuring outstanding flavor. A popular menu item is their Tempura Dipping Soba, mixing both fresh piping hot tempura and their handmade soba noodles. Enjoy spicy soba in the summer, fresh picked soba in the winter, and changing seasonal sobas thought up by the shopkeeper. We recommend trying their new buckwheat flour warabimochi dumplings thought up by the local university students. With reservation you can challenge yourself to try making your own hand made soba noodles.

This soba noodle restaurant with a simple yet warm mountain hut-like exterior is well known for making great handmade soba noodles with buckwheat flour made locally in the Yatsugatake Mountains and from carefully-selected domestic producers. Their flavorful noodles, prepared exclusively with spring water from Mt. Tennyo, pair incredibly well with the restaurant's dipping sauce. The sauce uses soy sauce made from whole domestic soy beans and aged for three years.

Yamanashi prefecture is the proud home of one of Japan’s most celebrated icons: Mount Fuji. Although the mountain straddles both Yamanashi and Shizuoka, the most breathtaking views of Fuji-san can be seen from the Fuji Five Lakes north of the mountain in Yamanashi prefecture. The plethora of outdoor activities in and around the lakes all have the benefit of the country’s highest mountain as their backdrop, and we can assure you that it is an unforgettable sight.
