Even among the number of “Houtou Fudou” stores which this chain has around Lake Kawaguchi, the Higashi koiji store among others has the most characteristic appearance. There are roughly 300 seats available within the white round building which is similar to a snow dome, so even large numbers of people can feel relieved and use it with confidence. The miso base soup which has been flavored with the savory taste of vegetables and mushrooms has a gentle flavor which goes very well with the homemade noodles.

This place being in the outskirts of Kawaguchi, we had to walk for about 25 min from our hotel, but it was worth it. Even though this extraterrestrial building is close to a big road, once youre...

Located in one of the Fujimi Sankei (three best viewpoints of Mt. Fuji), this teahouse established in 1934 has long been popular as a spot to enjoy a landscape of Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. Due to the teahouse's association with Dazai Osamu, its second floor serves as the Dazai Osamu Literary Memorial Room. Their hoto noodle hotpot featuring copious amounts of stewed vegetables and homemade noodles finished with locally-made miso paste was beloved by both Dazai Osamu and Ibuse Masuji.

This scenic terrace is located at the peak of Sun Meadows Kiyosato, the highest place in the Kiyosato area. The amazing views that it offers from an altitude of 1,900 meters are truly exhilarating. The terrace's luxurious and spacious sofas and tables makes their cafe's parfaits, gelatos, freshly-made coffee, and smoothies even more delicious.

This restaurant established in 1979 is popular for their golden hoto noodles made exclusively with ingredients sourced from Yamanashi Prefecture. It even won first place at the Shosenkyo Gorge Hoto Noodle Competition three years in a row. Their exquisite premium golden hoto noodles luxuriously combine their famous golden hoto noodles with boiled abalone, a Yamanashi Prefecture delicacy.

Called the holy land of big portions, Bonchi Shokudo is a popular and highly-rated shop where you can enjoy surprisingly large portions and a familiar menu of fried chicken rice bowl, fried rice, and pork cutlet rice bowl. Every dish features a surprising volume even at regular size. But it tastes good enough that you'll be able to finish a large.

This quiet and relaxed cafe and sundries shop just for adults on the shore of Lake Yamanaka lies off the beaten path. It offers items such as dried flowers and antique goods, as well as a selection of cakes which are also available as takeout. Children under the age of 10 years old are not welcome here.

This is a restaurant in Oizumi Town, Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, with a beautiful forest grove, gallery and restaurant with courtyard. The family of actor Hiroshi Yagyu and staff gathered from around the country operate here, and there are frequent repeat customers. Their long-time specialty since the restaurant’s founding is the fruit tea containing a generous helping of seven varieties of fruit. The Morning Basket full of Mt. Yatsugatake flavor, Western cuisine options, bread and other food makes for a full menu. Guests can see small birds and animals in the tree grove overlooked by the restaurant.

Eating at this ramen shop, amongst Yamanashi's most famous, often requires waiting in line. In addition to ramen, the shop also offers authentic tsukemen (dipping noodles). Their rich pork bone and seafood dipping sauce clings to their thick-cut noodles, creating an elegant flavor that's delicious to the last bite. The shop's ramen and roast pork on rice are also very popular.
