""Budo Monaka,"" which is a paste that contains raisins, took home the President's special award at the National Confectionery Expo."

    This venerable Japanese confection shop established in 1903 has continued for four generations since the founder first created Kaidama, a famous candy of Koshu. Their Fujikawa Castelas, a perennial bestseller, are sweet and moist madeleines with a gentle buttery flavor. Their shiomanju buns feature a special shioan (salted sweet red bean paste) filling made with Tokachi azuki beans and Kajikazawa salt wrapped in a covering made from specially-ordered kyo-joyoko fine rice flour and Japanese yam. The buns are made without any preservatives or leavening agents. The shop also sells limited edition seasonal Japanese sweets.

    This Japanese sweets shop in Fuefuki City, Yamanashi Prefecture was founded in 1889. It offers Kikyo Shingen mochi rice cakes, a local Yamanashi delight. Many people visit the shop to buy souvenirs and gifts. Its selection includes a number of Kikyo Shingen products, including Kikyo Shingen puddings, as well as Shingen peaches, which are made to resemble boxed peaches.
