    At this market complex, you can enjoy seeing, buying, and eating the charms of Wakasa. The complex offers a popular 60-minute boat cruise which enables riders to take in the local dynamic scenery formed by the stormy waters of the Sea of Japan. The Sotomo Cruising boat ride operates from March to November and is offered four times a day to general customers and also runs up to four times a day for private groups (when reservations have been made). The first floor of the complex is a souvenir store carrying famous products from Wakasa. The second floor is a restaurant serving an abundance of seasonal ocean delicacies.

On display and for sale are about 3,000 different styles of chopsticks including the local Obama specialty Wakasa Lacquered Chopsticks, which boast over 80% domestic market share for lacquered chopsticks. There's also an area where you can try polishing Wakasa Lacquered Chopsticks. Every year on August 4th, Chopsticks Day, they hold special events including chopstick memorial services and half price sales.

    This shop, which specializes in Wakasa lacquered chopsticks, manufactures and sells Wakasa lacquered chopsticks carefully crafted by artisans as well as hexagonal chopsticks that fit children’s hands. Each beautiful pair is carefully studded with egg or sea shells and painted with dozens of layers of coloured lacquer, but remains easy to use. Personalised chopsticks such as for couples are also available.

    外にある百円、二百円をカゴに入れて自分でとっていく箸の販売。見ていたら店員が近くに来てジロジロ。万引きでもするのかと警戒、気分が悪い。それならこんな売り方をして欲しくない。レジがある店内に入れておいたらどうでしょうか。おすすめを聞いても好きなのを選んだら、です。せっかく旅行で立ち寄ったのにつまらない。

    This center is a seafood market housing 11 fish shops, most of which are intermediate wholesalers, selling freshly-caught fish from local fishing ports and dried and processed marine products. It is also popular for its charcoal brazier area in a corner of the car park where you can cook the fish or dried products that you bought at the center. The best time to visit is the morning.

    10軒くらいの海産物店が軒を連ねており、食堂もあります。お店によりますが、7時くらいからお昼までの営業ですが早い時間だと入荷前だったりと訪問タイミングが難しいところです。名物の鯖や小鯛の笹漬等、魅力的なものが並んでいました。

They produce carefully made additive free Kodai-no-Sasazuke from domestic ingredients. Fresh sea bream caught that morning is seasoned with ingredients including salt, vinegar, and mirin and then packed with kelp in a cedar barrel. They also sell a variety of other processed goods made with local Wakasa seafood including Wakasa-Guji, high quality tilefish pickled in miso, and mackerel pickled in rice-bran paste, a traditional meal along the Saba Kaido Road.

    A Japanese confectioner in Minamigawa-cho, Obama City. Their hand-made treats are made with carefully chosen local Obama ingredients including chilled Kumagawa kudzu and water from Uriwari Falls. Treats for sale include three varieties of Kudzu yokan-jelly and a dumpling with dough made from roasted rice flour wrapped around a deluxe red bean paste. It the attached tea deinking area you can enjoy a cup of matcha green tea with your sweets.

    和菓子屋さんですが喫茶スペースがあり、和菓子以外もいただけるようです。和菓子は種類が多くて選ぶのを迷ってしまいます。私がいつも購入するのは栗の入った上品な甘さの「きんつば」と栗が丸々一個入った蕎麦饅頭「八百姫千代寿」で私のお気に入りです。和菓子ばかりでなく、日持ちもする焼き洋菓子もあります。商品によって購入注文してから少々時間がかかるものもあり、茶菓子の接待(無料)をいただけることもあります。
