- The Chihiro Iwasaki Birthplace Museum preserves the atmosphere of the Taisho Period (1912-1926), when the famous illustrator was born. The museum opened in 2004, and its gallery space features rotating exhibits of her art arranged in cooperation with the Chihiro Art Museum, allowing visitors to enjoy man aspects of her world.

It was a nice surprise to find out that one of my favourite artists had a museum in Echizen. We happened upon it by accident. It is a small house but it gives you an idea of the house that she grew...

織田一族発祥の地織田のシンボル剣神社の横に建つ福井出身で福井を代表する彫刻家「雨田光平」の作品が収蔵展示されている記念館です。越前焼とも所縁があったそうです。彫刻だけでなくハープ奏者として箏曲の家元でもあり幅広く芸術活動をしていたようです。入館料￥100で駐車場は隣の織田文化歴史館が使えます。
Fukui Areas
Northeast of Kyoto, the ancient Tojinbo Cliffs separate Fukui prefecture from the Sea of Japan in a stretch of land well worth exploring. Water sports and seaside delicacies are available in abundance as the spectacular rugged coastline flattens down into beaches to the west of the prefecture, while inland, Fukui is home to Zen Buddhist temples and historic ruins.
