The Uryu residence served as housing for numerous generations of chief priest of the adjacent Shinmeisha Shrine and was constructed during the Genroku period in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. It is the oldest private house in the prefecture and has been designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan.

Over 1000 items of traditional Echizen Lacquerware, boasting a history of over 1500 years, are on display and sold at a below market-value price. They also hold demonstrations of the lacquerware potter's wheel and gold-relief lacquerware classes (reservation required).

    A temple located along National Route 417 in Honmachi 3-Chome, Sabae City. This temple is tightly affiliated with the monk Shinran, founder of the Jodo Shinshu sect of Buddhism. On the Shisokumon main temple gate is carving by Hidari Jingoro called Kakedashi no Ryuu (Departing Dragon) and the gate is a designated Cultural Property of the Prefecture. On the second Sunday of each month they hold the popular Seiichi market with numerous stalls selling antiques and local gourmet foods.

    A Buddhist statue enshrined along the Isaribi Kaido Road in Tamagawa, Echizen Town, Nyu County. Legend states that long ago the enshrined statue of eleven-faced Kannon was caught by happenstance in a local fisherman's net. It was originally enshrined in a natural cave as the name suggests but the cave collapsed in 1989. It is now in a man-made concrete tunnel, surrounded by illuminated Echizen-ware pottery.

    A historic location in Akuwa, Minamiechizen Town, Nanjo County. This is the ruin of Somayama Castle, which was the base point for the southern army during the Period of Northern and Southern Dynasties when the imperial court was split and was the castle where Nitta Yoshisada barricaded himself in. Based on cornerstones and other remains found during archaeological digs it is believed that the inner citadel was situated 492-meters above sea level atop the peak with eastern and western sections built to either side. It's been designated as a National Historic Site.

Learn to make soba noodles starting by stone grinding local Imajo grown buckwheat into pure buckwheat flour and then mixing that with local Japanese yams and spring water to make noodles. Then taste the fresh soba noodles that you made with your own two hands. In the winter you can try making low sodium additive free miso. Reservations required for all courses.

    武生駅から徒歩5分ほど。 入館料無料。1929年築の鉄筋コンクリート造。昭和初期の公会堂らしい外観で国の登録有形文化財。立地しているのは藩校「立教館」があった場所で、正面右側に「建学記念碑」と彫られた石碑が立てられている。館内には越前市の歴史資料などが展示されているそうだが、訪れた日は開館日にもかかわらず閉館しており見学することはできなかった。

    稲荷バス停で下車すると直ぐ傍に朱塗りの大鳥居が立っていました。 鬱蒼とした木立の中を想像していたのですが、実際には開けた境内となっており神門を潜り石段を上がってやっと木立の中の拝殿と云った印象でした。 拝殿と本殿は分離された建物となっており、拝殿裏手から更に一段上がった場所が国指定重要文化財の本殿となっていました。本殿自体は上屋で囲われており風雪に耐えられるように保護されていました。
