- A garden on the grounds of Jofukuji Temple in Gobuichi-cho, Echizen City. The garden is a Japanese rock garden and uses the natural scenery of the Hino Mountain Range in its design. It was created after the temple was moved to its current location in 1624. Serving as an example of mid Edo period landscaping techniques surviving into the modern era it has been designated as a national place of scenic beauty.
Fukui Areas
Northeast of Kyoto, the ancient Tojinbo Cliffs separate Fukui prefecture from the Sea of Japan in a stretch of land well worth exploring. Water sports and seaside delicacies are available in abundance as the spectacular rugged coastline flattens down into beaches to the west of the prefecture, while inland, Fukui is home to Zen Buddhist temples and historic ruins.
