The Keta Taisha Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Jike Town, Hakui City. The Shrine, which is dedicated to the worship of the Shinto deity Okuninushi-no-mikoto, is said to have been built around 2,000 years ago. The sacred grove in which the Inner Shrine is situated is known as the “Forbidden Forest,” and has been designated as a National Natural Monument (note that there is no admission to the Forest).

A lot of shrines have forested areas, but they’re often quite manicured. Keta Shrine was like it was made with the forest in mind. Some parts were downright Ghibli-ish, especially the torii that led...

  • Chirihama Beach Driveway
    Travel / Tourism
    Ishikawa Prefecture Hakui
Chirihama Beach Driveway is a tourist highway that extends for approximately 8 km along sandy beach from Imahama, Hodatsushimizu-cho, Hakui District, in Ishikawa Prefecture to Chirihama Town. The sand has been compacted so hard by the action of the waves that it is as hard as a surfaced road, making it possible for cars and buses to drive along the beach; it is the only beach driveway of its kind in Japan. In summer, many tourists visit the area to relax at the beach or go shellfish-gathering. In TripAdvisor’s 2016 Travelers’ Choice Awards for the Best Beaches in the World, Chirihama Beach ranked number one within Japan.

Myojo-ji Temple in Hakui City, Ishikawa Prefecture is the head temple of the Nichiren school of Buddhism in the Hokuriku region; it is the largest temple in Northern Ishikawa (the region that was formerly known as Noto Province). Ten of the buildings within the temple precincts have been designated as National Important Cultural Properties; unusually, three of these buildings—the Soshi-do hall, Hon-do hall and Sanko-do hall—are laid out in a row, a practice which was unique to the Nichiren school; the Myojo-ji Temple is the only temple in Japan where the buildings arranged in this way have retained their original appearance. The Myojo-ji Temple also has the only five-storeyed pagoda in the Hokuriku region; built on top of a small hill, it has become a famous symbol of the Temple.

This place was very calm and tranquil. A small admission fee, but an excellently maintained temple, a pleasant and quiet walk through took about an hour.

Located close to Masuhogaura Beach, famous for its sakuragai tellins, and visitors can park their car and stroll the beach. A bench installed along the beach, recognized by Guinness as the longest in the world, creates a unique view. Inside, the station's shop sells shellwork made with the pink shells of sakuragai, as well as tasty foods made with Noto beef perfect for taking home as a souvenir. The station's soft serve ice cream, made with Irish cobbler potatoes, is particularly popular. The adjoining Sea Side Villa Bokkai resort hotel can also be used as a daytrip spa facility.

Ishikawa Kahoku-gun Uchinadamachi Daigaku 1- Miyasaka
This Uchinada Town landmark is also known as the Uchinada Bridge. The design of the 344-meter-long cable-stayed bridge was inspired by yukuzuri, a traditional technique and symbol of winter in the Hokuriku region in which ropes are arranged around trees to protect them from heavy snows. The elegant bridge is a sight to behold even in the daytime, but it is at night when visitors are particularly recommended to check it out. From sunset to 9:00 p. m., the bridge is lit up, wrapping the area in a romantic atmosphere. Because of its beauty, it is a perfect date destination, and the bridge has also been nominated for inclusion in the Lover’s Sanctuary Project as one of the most powerful love spots in the country.

A garden considered to represent Noto’s gardening culture. Members of the mighty Taira family once served as the headsmen of 13 villages under the direct control of the Tokugawa shogunate government. The family is said to have descended from the chief vassal of the Hatakeyama clan, whose members served as the governors of Noto Province, and they possessed a vast, 20,000-square-meter estate. This famous shoin-style garden was designed for enjoying the view of a central pond from the estate and was built in the mid-Edo period and bears aspects of both Muromachi period and Edo period gardening styles. One of the most celebrated private house Japanese gardens in the Noto area, it has been designated a Prefectural Place of Scenic Beauty due to its excellently preserved condition.
