    An amusement park roughly 1,000,000 square meters in size, Kaga Traditional Handicrafts Village Yunokuni no Mori is a place expressing the beautiful mystique of an old house merged with nature, and one where you can see, touch, and make traditional crafts of Hokuriku Kaga. With 11 buildings, over 50 types of experiences, and many art museums and galleries, this park provides many courses for walking through the forest. You can try out things like wajima lacquering, yuzen dyeing, kutaniyaki (pottery), yamanaka lacquering, gold leaf pasting. Approximately 20 minutes by car via Katayamazu Interchange on the Hokuriku Expressway.

    An interactive style factory and shop facility located in Ono-machi, Kanazawa City a 15 minute drive from Kanazawa Station. Yamato Soy Sauce & Miso Co., Ltd., founded in 1911, seeks with this facility to convey to visitors the wonders of koji malted rice through a variety of experiences. You can visit the company's own shop located and taste various products, eat popular soy sauce soft serve ice cream or Yamato's satsumaage fried fish paste, and do a variety of activities. On the park's guided tour, you can soak your hands in a soothing and rejuvenating hand bath which contains koji. Also recommended is the course which allows you to taste and compare different miso flavors and make your own original instant miso soup.

    This is an exhibition and experiential center for the traditional art of Kaga-yuzen's fabric design. It is located in Koshomachi, Kanazawa City. In addition to displays of Yuzen materials, a demonstration of how fabrics are hand drawn can be watched. Small Yuzen items are also for sale. Through the DIY corner and the kimono fitting corner, one can get a taste of Kaga-yuzen concept. Adjoining this museum a hall available for rent for events, and a rest area for use at no cost.

    This is a sightseeing cultural exchange facility located in Ishikawa Prefecture where visitors can learn about the traditional craftwork of graceful “Wajima” lacquer ware. It opened in 2003 and is located in Kawai Town, Wajima City, in Ishikawa Prefecture. Inside the premises, there are five buildings replicating the old Wajima “Nagaya” terrace style workshops. Inside is divided into Wajima lacquer workshops, specialized Wajima lacquer shops and an experience workshop. The experience of gold inlaid lacquer ware and making your own chopsticks is popular with tourists. In the “Nagaya” workshops, visitors can observe the work of the craftsmen and at the restaurant managed directly by fisherman enjoy meals served in Wajima lacquer ware.

    A hotel with a bathhouse also available to non-guests located a five minute drive from JR Anamizu Station. As its name implies, the hotel looks like a Japanese castle from the outside, and all guest rooms have a sweeping ocean view of Anamizu Bay. The hotel's vaunted bathhouse also boasts this gorgeous view and has a lie down bath, jacuzzi, and a bath filled with a monthly changing bath blend. The bathhouse' bedrock bath is only available to women and may be used on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The hotel serves food made with fresh, seasonal ingredients; the dancing charcoal grilled oysters, an Anamizu specialty, are a particular draw. You can also enjoy seasonal Noto flavors like abalone, Noto beef, and local liquors.

    I currently live and work in Tokyo, so a visit to the coast is one thing, but Anamizu, close to Noto raises the bar, this sleepy little place is worth exploring and Castle Manai is a great base, nice...

    A trolley train which follows Koiji Beach in Noto Town. The trolley revives a 300 meter abandoned stretch of track once used by the Noto Railway, traveling from the remodeled Koiji Station to Sogen Tunnel. The pedal-powered trolley seats up to eight people. The trolley also uses the aid of an electric motor, ensuring riders can proceed at a relaxing pace while enjoying the surrounding scenery. A sake storehouse has been built into the Sogen Tunnel, making use of the fixed temperature it maintains naturally year round.

    This exhibition and experience center is located in Ossaka, Noto, Hosu District of Ishikawa Prefecture. Annexed to the Kujukuri Bay, one of the scenic views in the Noto Peninsula National Park, this center displays and nurtures many of the creatures living in the bay. Visitors are welcome to study marine life through the touch pool where you can interact with live starfish or anemones, through observing the sea life in the vicinity, creating crafts from seashells, making sea salt or going snorkeling.

    係りの方がいろいろ説明してくださったので、とても有意義、楽しい時間を過ごせました。係りの方の説明があるとないとではおそらくだいぶ違うかとは思います。時間がない方はマリンシアターは割愛してもいいかもしれません。ヒトデが裏返しても元に戻る様子など、子どもが見たら喜ぶようなことがたくさんあります。

    "A cultural experience facility operating out of a remodeled building once used as a training hall for geisha located in the Katayamazu Onsen hot spring village. Here you can try your hand at making a traditional Japanese dyed textile. A type of tie-dying known as Akiko-zome, the name is derived from a poem by Akiko Yosano, who visited Katayamazu Onsen long ago. The poem mentions the elegant, light purple textiles decorated with patterns in a technique called ""dorozome"" (mud dying)- ""The wind rises / A wave of light purple moves / Katayamazu in the early spring."" Participants can dye a handkerchief or scarf with their own original design."

    1920年に建てられた片山津温泉の芸妓の練習の場だった建物です。べんがら格子が美しく大正ロマンが感じられる施設です。館内では、「豆腐づくり体験」や「晶子染め体験」や「水引体験」ができます。現在、寄席やイベントブ会場として使われたりしているそうです。芸妓さんの源氏名が入った稲荷提灯や芸妓札などが展示されています。

This kominka (old house) style building at the quiet mountain foot offers a chance to get direct training from local craftspeople. Yamanaka Onsen's traditional craft, Yamanaka Lacquerware, is also called Woodgrain ware because of its ultimate feature, the way it brings out the natural shape of the woodgrain. Yamanaka Woodgrain Lacquerware is also a registered Intangible cultural property in Ishikawa prefecture. In addition to offering a close up view of wood-turning lathes inside the hall, you can make your own piece with instruction from experts. You can make soup bowls, salad bowls, matcha tea bowls, or high pedestal bowls called Goroku-wan.

There’s also a fire extinguishing activity which teaches you how to use a fire extinguisher, and a smoke exhibit where you can learn about the dangers of smoke and its characteristics.

    A Kutani ware gallery where you can decorate your own ceramic piece located in the Yamanaka Onsen hot spring village. Participants can select an unpainted piece of Kutani ware and, under the direction of a skilled artisan, decorate it as they like. The pieces on offer are mainly cups, plates, and other items which can be used in everyday life. After being decorated, the pieces are fired in the gallery's own kiln and mailed to participants' homes around 10 days later. The gallery also sells Kutani ware pieces by local artists which visitors can purchase to take home as souvenirs.

    A workshop which creates Yamanaka lacquerware, a traditional craft in Ishikawa Prefecture. The entire production process, from shaping the wood on a lathe to decorating and applying the lacquer, is conducted here in this workshop. Dedicated to the concept of Yamanaka lacquerware which can be used as part of your everyday life, the workshop's gallery is filled with lacquerware pieces with beautiful wood grain patterns visible underneath the varnish. The workshop also offers a lacquerware decorating experience. Participants can use colorful lacquer to decorate plain wood pieces and even sprinkle on gold dust. The completed pieces are sent to participants' homes a few days later after the workshop has applied the necessary finishing.

    A sightseeing boat service which tours Tsukumo Bay, considered one of Japan's most picturesque locations. Riders can take in the distinctive scenery created by the complex geography of the bay's 99 inlets. The bay experiences gentle waves like a lake and the boat sways little, ensuring even those prone to seasickness need not worry. During the 40 minute cruise, the boat leaves from a dock on the east side of the bay and visits various picturesque sights as it is caressed by gentle sea breezes. A feeding show conducted at a 100 meter fish preserve along the way has resulted in the boat tours gaining much popularity via word of mouth. Being able to watch wild fish from special glasses is also amazing.

The primary strawberry variety cultivated is Hokowase, a cultivar which spoils quickly and is thus not often offered for mail order sale. Strawberries are grown both outdoors and in greenhouses, and visitors can enjoy strawberry picking here from mid-April to mid-June.

The facility offers maki-e gold and silver lacquerware and chinkin gold-inlaid lacquerware activities for visitors to enjoy. You can make your very own Wajima lacquerware accessory or piece of tableware and take it home that very day; not only that, the prices are also reasonable. The facility also stocks a wide variety of materials to choose from, making this a great destination to create a fantastic memory as well. In addition, there's an adjoining Wajima lacquerware gallery and outlet shop. The staff are happy to answer questions and can even accommodate requests, making it easy to pick out the perfect piece.
