- "This small island, around five kilometers in circumference, is located some 48 kilometers north of the Noto Peninsula. The island is perfectly positioned as a way station for birds migrating between the Chinese mainland and the Japanese archipelago, and over 350 species of wild birds have been confirmed on the island. Rare species from the Chinese mainland can also be seen here, and it has become a mecca for birdwatchers. Because of the influence of the Tsushima Current around the island as well as the continental shelf, it is also boasts superb fishing grounds. The island is thus also known as ""Ama (Female Diver) Island"" due to the abundance of abalone, wakame seaweed, and similar seafoods which can be gathered here. There are many points of interest on the island, including the Shirasuna Shell Mound on the southwestern tip of the island, numerous shrines, and rock cairns."

- Beloved as a symbol of the Noto, Mitsukejima Island is said to be so-named because it was the first island Kobo Daishi saw when he left Noto for Sado. It is also called “Battleship Island” for the shape of its tip. Mitsukejima Island with decorative lighting is a sight to behold.

- An island 72 kilometers in circumference floating in Nanao Bay. The island is connected to the Noto Peninsula by two bridges-the Notojima Ohashi Bridge and Twin Bridge Noto. Included as part of Noto Hanto Quasi-National Park, the island was once designated as Notojima Town, but on October 1, 2004, the town merged with and became a part of Nanao City. Due to its history and location, the island is dotted with many ancient Buddhist and Shinto sites such as the National Historic Site-designated Susoezoana Kofun burial mound and Iyahime Shrine. In recent years, efforts have been made to increase tourism on the island, and there's something to do for visitors of all ages, including glasswork craft classes, dolphin watching, camping, sea fishing, and fresh seafood.

Ishikawa Areas
Long, thin Ishikawa prefecture runs along the Sea of Japan up into Noto Peninsula. Highlights of the seaside towns lining the west coast include Kanazawa, often described as a "Little Kyoto" thanks to its old wooden tea houses and geisha culture as well as its picturesque Japanese garden, Kenroku-en.
