Ishikawa Pref. Suzushi Misakimachi Jike 10-11
A cape situated at the tip of the Noto Peninsula in Suzu City, Ishikawa Prefecture. The cape also appears in the “Kunibiki shinwa,” a tale in the ancient Izumo no kuni fudoki, which records various legends about the Izumo region. Viewed as one of the top three mystical “power spots” in Japan, the cape is visited by large numbers of tourists. Highlights include the “Skybird” observation platform, which juts out into open air and offers a sweeping view of the Sea of Japan; and the mysterious Blue Cavern, a flooded cave with waters that appear to be dyed a deep, cobalt blue.
  • Yase Cliffs

    Ishikawa Pref. Hakuigunshikamachi Sasanami
The Yase Cliffs rise up to a height of around 35-55 meters above the ocean; it would be very easy to lose your footing on the cliffs, and they became famous as a location for the film “Zero Focus.” The footpath that runs along the top of the cliffs provides access to the site of the “Concealment of the ship of Yoshitsune” story, according to which Minamoto no Yoshitsune hid from his pursuers while escaping from Minamoto no Yoritomo by concealing his boat in a cove here.
  • Cape Rokkosaki

    Ishikawa Pref. Suzushi Noroshimachi
Rokkosaki is located on the very tip of the Noto Peninsula, the cape at the nexus of the inner and outer bays. It is famous for being a place you can see the sun both rise and set over the ocean. There is a Meiji-era chalk lighthouse at the precipice of the cliffs.

Ishikawa Areas

Long, thin Ishikawa prefecture runs along the Sea of Japan up into Noto Peninsula. Highlights of the seaside towns lining the west coast include Kanazawa, often described as a "Little Kyoto" thanks to its old wooden tea houses and geisha culture as well as its picturesque Japanese garden, Kenroku-en.
