    The Morihachi Saryo teahouse is situated on the second floor of the main branch of Morihachi, a traditional Japanese confectionery shop that was founded 390 years ago, on National Route 159 in the Otemachi district of Kanazawa City. Visitors can enjoy a cup of tea accompanied by Morihachi’s famous traditional “Black Yokan” or Jo-namagashi high-end fresh confectionery; visitors who book ahead at least one day before their visit can also have a specially-made Bento boxed lunch that features the Kazue Town district’s famous Kibune cuisine. There is also a special area for Rakugan (hard candy) making experience activities (which need to be booked at least two days in advance); after the candy-making experience, visitors can enjoy eating the candy they have just made together with some Matcha green tea. The adjacent Kanagawa Museum of Wooden Japanese Sweet Molds has displays of the wooden molds used to make traditional Japanese confectionery.

    "A Japanese-style sweets cafe located a two minute walk from the ""Hashiba-cho"" bus stop on the Hokuriku Railroad Bus. The cafe is located in a corner of the Agency for Cultural Affairs-designated Kanazawa City Higashiyama-higashi Traditional Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The first floor is a shop which sells sweets made by Nakataya, a company famous for its kintsuba sweet beans wrapped in flour dough. The second floor is an old Japanese home-style cafe space. The restaurant's ""kimusuko"" projecting lattice windows and red carpet create an elegant atmosphere in which you can relax and savor original sweets. You can order kintsuba made with Noto Dainagon adzuki beans or Japanese-style Western sweets topped with adzuki and sweetened green beans along with a cup of matcha powdered green tea or other drink."

In order to preserve the flavor and pungency of the ginger, the snacks are carefully coated one at a time with a ginger syrup warmed to 80° C. Their classic sweets, tarts and roll cakes made with seasonal fruit, etc. are all just sweet enough. The shop has each section selling cake, pastries, baumkuchen, and gelato. A self-serve coffee machine is in the aisle. Their Kanazawa Mito Baumkuchen—inspired by the trees enlivening Kanazawa's lovely townscape—is an ideal gift for weddings, baby showers, etc.

    This Western confectionary shop can be identified by its country-style exterior and cute recessed terrace. Inside, the shop is filled with charming knickknacks, its display cases covered with products perfect for birthday cakes, gifts, or a luxurious little treat for yourself. The Kinugoshi Choux Crème Goma is particularly popular, and consists of a fluffy choux crème crust stuffed with black sesame cream and a kokuto brown sugar-flavored warabimochi bracken starch dumpling. The dainty crust goes perfectly with the light, refreshing cream filling. The black sesame variety is only available from July to mid-September, but the Kinugoshi Choux Crème Matcha, filled with organic matcha custard cream, is sold year round.

The shop’s famous Sekkato is a favorite of people who enjoy the tea ceremony. Other popular products include the mildly sweet Matsu Koboku, which contains a chestnut at its center; and the Namikimichi yokan jelly redolent of the fragrance of uguisumame sweetened green peas.
